The result is a futuristic prowler with a 300-horsepower clean diesel engine, flashing lights visible from all angles, an ergonomic cockpit, an onboard computer with voice command and instant license plate recognition, integrated shotgun mounts, and more. (Weapons of mass destruction detectors are available as an option -- seriously.)
I was thinking of putting this in the funny links thread, but I thought it would be more fun to discuss what else this beast could be equipped with. I'm not sure how much of a good idea integrated shotguns would be in a police chase in terms of collateral damage, maybe rather as part of a barricade. I'm definitely liking the concept design though.

I wonder if it can transform into some kind of mecha.....

Sweet.
FLIR, a rocket grapple, biometric ignition, and a fingerprint scanner with access to all federal and state fingerprint databases.

They even gives cops shotguns? Shouldn't cops have accurate weapons so they avoid collateral damage.

Maybe a HUD with a targeting reticle would help some. And the option to switch between shotgun rounds and beanbags or gas grenades.

I would like the idea of shotguns mounted on the bumper of a patrol car, but don't they mean that the shotguns are mounted INSIDE the car, so that the officer can grab one when they pursue the suspect on foot?

I mean, it'd make a little bit more sense. Of course... bumper shotguns are more awesome.

Needs an directional EMP cannon.

This.

Price tag is looking around 50 000 USD per car. Hmm. How does that compare for current set-up costs on a patrol car? After all the aftermarket necessities, I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't a similar cost.

I like how absolutely none of you has any experience with shotguns outside of hollywood and first person shooters, it really shows quite well. shotguns don't have a magical cone effect that only makes them useful inside of arms reach, they're fairly accurate at distance otherwise they'd be completely useless as hunting weapons.

Flarecobra 03-23-2009 12:05 PM

Kinda assuming much, are you?

Anyway, what I'm curious about is how well it can handle damage from chases/shootouts.
