Why do people say that they are going to hop in the shower? If anybody actually ever did hop onto a small wet hard floor. I hope I'm there to watch what happens next.

I routinely hop into my shower.

I am also part gecko.

Magic_Marker 03-26-2009 12:43 PM

Why are geckos allowed to mate with humans. I know that in this day and age I'm supposed to be tolerant and let people katchup their eggs with or without my approval but gecko/human relationships is where I draw the line!

>_>

Do you people love putting in these mental images?

But no, seriously. With regards to people, why do they always make things sound worse then they really are? Like when I had a root canal done in boot camp, it was nothing. I was in and back in training in an hour.

Yeah I've heard gruesome and excruciating stories about teeth and dentists. Though every time I had something done it was mild and as close as you can get to a pleasant experience.

Magic_Marker 03-26-2009 02:14 PM

It's because a lot of people can't take pain, myself included of course.

Similar thoughts: most people who type "lol" aren't even laughing really.

While I can't personally speak to the experience of a root canal, I can pull from my own and others' experiences with having wisdom teeth removed. Accounts have varied, and dentists have confirmed that people experience it differently (with most variation being in the post-surgery aspects). It's likely that a root canal is similar?

The main thing about dentistry that makes people hate it is the fact that you often end up getting someone's hands shoved into your jaw for about a half-hour or more. Its pretty low on the list of things people want to do simply due to jaw discomfort.

There's also the whole injecting-needles thing, drilling, and numbness and odd why-am-I-sore feeling afterwards.

And people actually feel pain differently. (as it was explained to me in psychology, it's like a door. Some people's "pain" doors are wide open, which means everything hurts more, while some people's "pain" doors are barely cracked, which means they feel less (and then the rare and dangerous instance in which it is closed and they feel no pain)

One person's body can interpret something completely differently from another person's body.

But honestly, I think people like to exaggerate anyway.
