Also most likely Root Canal is objectively less painful these days than it used to be.

I know that over the course of my treatment orthodontists made great strides in not being goddamn torturers.

Kepor 03-26-2009 10:15 PM

That's probably true, as well as individual threshold for pain. I got some wisdom teeth removed a few years ago, and it went fine.

Of course, I didn't get dry sockets, so...

Marelo 03-26-2009 11:02 PM

My jaw is unusually tight, so I have trouble keeping my mouth open the whole time. That's because I'm also part crocodile.

That wasn't even a question, and was actually a statement and an answer to a hypothetical future question!

Someone stop me!

The Argent Lord 03-27-2009 01:44 AM

Okay, so I have a question. How do you do POS's crazy Lovecraftian Web-Devourer symbol?

POS Industries 03-27-2009 02:50 AM

Sir, I haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about.

Professor Smarmiarty 03-27-2009 04:47 AM

Why are AC/DC adaptors so big? I totally don't think they need to be that big.

Why do you have a Spanish theme, now?

Also, vosotros isn't in venganza! Qué ridiculo...

CelesJessa 03-27-2009 12:01 PM

I have a good legit question that I really would like to know!

Nowadays at the movies that are in 3-D the new 3-D glasses are black instead of red and blue. As I am blind in my left eye, the red and blue 3-D glasses don't do crap for me, but I have heard a few people say that the new black ones work even if you close one of your eyes.

Is it true? I'd really like to experience a 3-D movie, but I don't want to spend overly much on one that won't do anything for me.

Marelo 03-27-2009 12:08 PM

I'm pretty sure that the new 3-D movies do indeed use cool glasses that work with one eye closed/not seeing.

I can also confirm this, I went to see Coraline in 3-D about a month ago, if they still have it in 3-D, I'd recommend that.

That's why Pajaro Pete puts it there!

It works on the principle of polarized lenses instead of the old Red/Blue thing. It will work for you just fine.

All right. I figured I could do that, but I was wondering if there was some way to actually type it.

Magic_Marker 03-27-2009 01:13 PM

All I'm seeing are bunch of boxes. Why is that?

CelesJessa 03-27-2009 01:42 PM

Fascinating! Now I'm really curious to go see one of these movies now. Will the new black glasses work on movies where you were supposed to use the blue and red ones, or does the movie have to be processed differently too so only the new ones will work?

Your operating system is ill-equipped to process the summoning of elder gods.

Chew on your keyboard until it happens. Make sure to be extra slobbery. Placing some strong magnets in the vacinity of your harddrive helps speed the process.

Also: Type what?

DAMN YOU XP!

synkr0nized 03-27-2009 02:13 PM

I still don't get why it inconsistently changes size.

You must have Microsoft Windows XP Godless Edition.

No but it might just be that you don't have all the character encoding options on or installed.

Magic_Marker 03-27-2009 02:17 PM

Yeah, I probably shouldn't do that on my work computer.

I should probably get back to work. Though it's probable I won't.

So generally any version, then?

Magic_Marker 03-27-2009 02:47 PM

Yeah pretty much.

[EDIT] Hasn't this thread been going on longer than usual?

Kepor 03-27-2009 03:02 PM

Is it the browser or the operating system? I run XP and use firefox, and I can see the things fine.

Magic_Marker 03-27-2009 03:17 PM

I don't know and I'm definately too lazy to check. Can someone describe what's in the horror boxes for me?

[Edit] I'm home now and the mystery of the horror boxes seem to be unsolvable. Atleast by Google Chrome, further study is warranted.

So what actually makes the super-crazy work?

No idea. I just found it on the WoW OT a few months ago, when it was in vogue there, and saved it for later use/reference.

Also, POS, RE: Pajaro Pete: Touché.

Because they're actually electric transformers, which do in fact have to be that big.

Mirai Gen 03-27-2009 09:42 PM

I think that, more accurately, there's no reason for the AC/DC adaptor at the plug to be so big.

I could link an AVGN video but you all know what I'm talking about.

Eltargrim 03-27-2009 10:06 PM

Probably easier from a manufacturing perspective to have it all plugged in at one location, rather than have multiple cords.

It's to make sure you aren't thunderstruck by the high voltage and blow up your video with a flick of the switch. All that powerage can go up like TNT, and that can be a real ballbreaker if you blow a fuse and wind up back in black.

MasterOfMagic 03-28-2009 05:42 AM

I've always liked how they do laptop cords, having the converter halfway down the line or so. But they don't put it inside the device mostly for heating issues. Those things can put out alot, and while its okay (not great) for the parts in the converter, the parts in the device are usually more sensitive.

Its also probably a safety thing. If they convert it right at the wall, it won't matter much if the cord gets frayed; no one will be hurt. But should they run AC the whole way, and you touch exposed wires...ouch. I've been shocked by that much a few times and its not fun.

But my lab equipment which runs 20,000 volts has a converter only slightly larger than the average home converter. It should be totally possible to make a smaller one for normal stuff.

Eltargrim 03-28-2009 11:39 AM

A quick wiki search determines that the size and design are due to cost factors. Money makes the world go round, it seems~

Mirai Gen 03-28-2009 04:27 PM

Also seriously its a pain in the ass to have to plug it in when the 'it' in question takes up two or three slots on a power strip. Just moving the converter down a few feet is infinitely more convenient.

In fact I have a power strip that has two block-shaped spaces with plugs in the center just because of these monstrous pains in the ass.

I don't recognize any of those songs.

Closing not so much for length as because POS is enjoying it way too much for anyone's good.
