Robo 'round the world

I'm curious. What's the farthest from their homeland Atomic Robo issues have travelled?

I offer Germany. I have no way of knowing for sure but there's a chance I'm in fact the only person in the entire country to read it. Any evidence to the contrary will be gladly accepted. The guys at the comic book store sure hadn't heard of it.

Forgive me if I am wrong but, isn't there a law in Germany that you can't sell things that feature Nazis? Wouldn't Atomic Robo Break that law?

It's actually a bit more complex. In a nutshell, you can sell whatever you want, but a lot of publishers censor their own product because there is a law against displaying Nazi symbols. In theory this law exists to keep neo-nazi groups from using them and use in context should be fine (example: Indiana Jones movies), in practice people have been prosecuted for displaying this:

Which is obviously bollocks and was eventually officially declared such, but a lot of publishers still either misunderstand the law or figure "better safe than sorry."

It works much the same way with depictions of violence in the media, by the way. And that, kids, is how governments introduce censorship without actually having to put themselves in the position of the censor.

Melfice 04-01-2009 04:34 AM

I was gonna suggest me.
But then I thought, "Oh, wait, there's Meister. He's German."
And then I saw that you, Meister, made the topic, and I was still: "Yeah, he's German."
And then you mentioned you're German. So. Yeah.

If we travel via Asia, I'm still further away from the US than you though. >___>

Netherlands, here.
Most likely, I too am one of the few people here who read Atomic Robo.

It's always best to get the information straight from the source.

Still you guys are further away than me, I live in the Texas part of the Ark-La-Tex area.

Robo's plenty popular here among comic readers, but Australia's not that different from America culturally. I mean, we speak (baaaasically) the same language, for a start.

It can be ordered from Finnish webshop if I recall correctly and I suppose that some people have bought Robo (I should buy it but blah, blah, lazy me, blah). And Finland is farther from USA than Germany. So ha, I guess.
Except, if you go via the North Pole I suppose, but nobody is that wise nowadays.

I think I am the most northern person. But then again, I don't know the relative latitude that Melfice is in comparison to me.

If I am the most Northern, then I gotta say, it's lonely at the top

:(

Kurosen 04-01-2009 08:41 AM

Robo is shown to be in China in flashbacks during Vol 1, Issue 2 and that's technically further from Robo's place of origin than Germany. But only because Robo lives on the American East Coast.

52° 21′ 0″ N, 4° 52′ 0″ E
That's the coordinates of the Netherlands (or at the very least Amsterdam.)
I'm fairly certain you're higher up than me.

EDIT: 45° 24′ 0″ N, 75° 40′ 0″ W
Or maybe I AM, if I'm only looking at Ottawa, as that's the only coordinates I could easily find...

EDITED: Nope. Alberta is 53°. You're still up higher.
And even Meister's higher on 52° 23′
