These kinds of technical concerns could be answered by searching the Warhammer Online website, or at worst, emailling their tech support. Back when I was playing DDO, I believe I just did what you're doing now though. I was in the beta and downloaded the trial client, and just got switched to full version when it launched.

This is in the game manual, so I assume it's correct.
 

Well, what I did was download the trial, and pay for the full game, and it lists it as "Digital Download". As such, I'm hoping doing the whole redownload the trial and log in under my name fixes it. Failing that, angry emails. Won't know for a while though. Patch is only at 32%. And it's nine gigs. Of course, that's because it's all the patches and everything required to run the game, but that's irrelevant.
