Misread, but it doesn't matter since dragons don't exist.

Jad: is there a Chancellor of the Exchequer (sp?) type position in this time period?

If so I'll take that (assuming there's still room).

The rank of High Lord Chancellor is open and High Lord Steward..

Hmm... do you have a link to details of Elizabethan english government? (since that seems to be more or less what this is).

If not I think some kind of general explanation of the various ranks is in order just so people will know what their options are.

As for my intended charecter I'm looking for a "Master of coin" type position. Finances and suchlike. That ring any bells? (note: if you've read Game of Thrones series think Littlefinger)

ok Wikipedia has a good section on the english nobility and government.

I've decided to use the L5R Rpg system for our stats. It has the best rules for courtiers and duelists. I'll adapt the skils stats and advantages set out of fuedal japan and alterate to work with fuedal england.

Edit: and for the record the head of Parliament, the Prime minister is also the First Lord of the Treasury, thus the source of his power. He controls the money, he controls the state. So Celes and the Prime minister are in charge of the treasury, but you can be the Second Lord of the treasury if you want.

The hierchy works like this from what I understand:
Queen (Divine right monarch. She is the head of the heads, The one Queen to... RULE THEM ALL *Bursts into flames*)
Lord High chancellor (Chief Legal officer)
Prime Minister (Chief Executive officer)
Lord Great Chamberlain (Chief Legislative Officer)
Lord Steward (Currently Vacant, but typically also held by the LHCham.)
Lord High Chamberlain (Head of the Royal household, and Highest advisor to the queen)
Archbishop of Cantebury (Head of the State religion)
and then it get's really confusing.

My character is the Duke of Clark and Head of the Queen's Navy.

I'm interested, just seems sort of hard to wrap my head around. This will be a very different type of RP.

And what is the L5R RPG system? I'm interested.

It's a D10 system meant for Samurai, courtiers, ninja, oni, and shugenja. I'm cutting the last two turning the first one to nobles, and the last one to spies.

Sounds like a good system.

If you guys would rather skip the adaption and go for a direct l5r game tell me now cause then We'll just make Celes emporer and I'll throw the magic back in.

Rar, can't find the rules to run L5R on Kazaa...

Personally, I'm fine with either. Both sound interesting, but I know little about both so either way all be making it up as I go along...
