Favorite Anime(s) of All Time

So, there are a lot of animes that have been released, and I was wondering, what are some of your favorite(s)?

Personally, my overall favorites would have to be Death Note, Code Geass, Azumanga Diaoh, and One Piece.

(Extremely minor spoilers follow that are no greater than telling how good an ending was, not what happened in it)

Death Note- Death Note had one of the best stories that I have ever watched.

Code Geass- Code Geass was enjoyable through out and had the perfect ending.

Azumanga Diaoh- Azumanga Diaoh was incredibly funny, with a sad ending

One Piece- One Piece has entertaining arcs that emotionally powerful.

In before TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN oh wait.

You all know pretty damn well why, but for the newbies, let's just say manly robot violence inspires.

Gonna also say TTGL for similar reasons.

FLCL for being insane and deep at the same time.

Gunbuster because of Episode 5 and doing faster than light travel right.

Afro Samurai because it's Samuel L. Jackson with an afro killing fools for revenge. Also, Kuma.

Toradora! because it is a badass romantic comedy.

Turn A Gundam is the best 50 episode anime ever made and anyone who disagrees can die in a fire.

FLCL, Gunbuster, and Macross Plus are the trinity of awesome OVAs.

I'm not an anime person and can't stand most of it, but Now and Then, Here and There.

I really loved that one. I remember seeing like the first few episodes and then spending the better part of five years trying to get my hands on the rest.

GIANT ROBO: The Day The Earth Stood Still. This OVA is just fantastic, it has eveything: Giant Robots, futuristic-retro designs, drama, mystery, cool speeches set to opera music, super-powered humans battling for fate of the Earth, stuff blowing up, and of course Kenji Murasame the Immortal aka the guy wearing the pink trenchcoat and fedora who speaks with a silly unconvincing french accent.

Also, this guy.

Revolutionary Girl Utena - Not your average magical girl anime! There's also always something new to think about every time you rewatch it. People need to watch this so we can start a thread discussing it.

Seconding Code Geass - R1 was amazing. R2 was an idiotic mindf*ck along the way but ended well.

Planetes - Realistic sci-fi and space life ftw!

Hunter x Hunter - Ultimate shonen anime. Naruto is just a poor imitation. Yay for the main character always getting the absolute crap beat out of him and not being "the strongest". The anime pwnz0rd and the manga is better.

Death Note - The anime was not bad. I liked the manga better, but there is no way the manga could make the simple acts of writing and eating potato chips so EPIC.

Nine posts to mention Cowboy Bebop.

What is the flipping matter with you people.

Grave of the Fireflies. It's the saddest thing I've ever seen. Fuck, I'm crying just thinking about it.

For a greater challenge, name an anime that succeeds because it is an anime and not any other kind of animation/TV show/motion picture. I'm drawing blanks on that one.
