To be honest I wouldn't want a pokemon MMO at all. What would you DO with other people, aside from battling and trading, which you can do anyway? How would catching pokemon work out? Sure, you could just lock a pokemon to whoever fight it first, but if you do that you might as well make it a fucking single-player game. The gym idea that someone had would be cool I guess, but difficult to implement.
Just give me my offline-with-online-elements sandbox pokemon game with multiple regions. I always thought that the Pokemon games as they were would lend themselves well to the sandbox style, but the game railroads you too much. |

I'm interested in the new games, but I'm going to have my regulars; Blastoise, Dragonite, Garados, Arcanine, Electabuzz, Sloking

Can't mess with a classic squad there, Seil. Though, and I can't say this enough, Jolteon and Ninetales.

Well (and this is probably just chaff) you might have a little faboyishness going on with Ninetails. And I dun really like Eevee. Dun know why - but the prejudice spreads to its evolved forms.
|
Yeah, straight fanboy on Ninetales I guess, -though- you can breed Energy ball into it, and it can toss a big, grass-element fuck-you at all of Fire type's weaknesses. And Jolteon's one of the quicker pokemon in the game. I did homework <3

I'd like to see a Pokemon roguelike. You can pick your starter at the beginning, but that's it. You then have to make your way through 100 procedurally generated areas, making use of whatever wild Pokemon and items the game decides to dole out to you. Since there wouldn't be any Pokecenters (I guess maybe they could spawn one-time use hot springs or something every few levels if it became a problem) or Pokemarts, each Potion, Pokeball, and Ether would be precious. Of course it couldn't be totally random; Pokemon would have to be unevolved and at lower levels near the beginning and gradually get stronger, and you might need a starting kit of items. The mechanics might have to undergo some slight changes too; you couldn't breed so Egg Moves would have to work differently, and I think using HMs would prove pretty difficult in a randomized dungeon. Still though, if it was done right, I think I could play that for years on end.
And I know they have the Mystery Dungeon games, but that's not really the same thing I'm envisioning. |
I only want a multi-region game if they can pull it off well this time. Regardless of how many people complain that GSC were good because you could go to Kanto and Johto, I've always thought that they were the weakest main games in the series. Don't forget, in order to throw two regions in there, Johto is easily the most linear region in the series, and Kanto was effectively butchered. Not to mention that the only person remotely challenging was Red, while the so called Elite Four all had mon's in the 40's, with the highest being Lance's Dragonite, which somehow degenerated five levels in three years.
tl;dr I take this too seriously, and don't want a multi-region game after the disaster that was GSC. |
See, this sandbox game you guys are talking about could be the console game we need for Pokemon that actually has a PURPOSE, rather than being a DS addition. I personally think that'd be a great idea.
Will it happen? Probably not. |
It's on Nintendo's list. They will create a open ended, story driven Wii pokemon game with all regions and all pokemon, right after they release Non rehashed Metroid and Zelda games! I swear! It will be like... a month later!
