Doctor Who Easter Special: Planet of the Dead
 

What did everyone think? I liked it quite a bit. Very quotable too. "I'll just step inside this police box... and arrest myself." Hee hee hee.

Kind of a shame that chick didn't stick with him. I liked her. I hope she shows up again, because the Doctor needs some more useful companions, or at least some who are there to do more than hang out and be amazed by stuff (although I loved Donna Noble).

So anyone have any ideas as to what "IT" is? Better not be Daleks, but I'm pretty sure it won't be. They couldn't possibly do two Dalek season finales in a row....

oh wait....

Still, I don't think that's the direction they'll go. Part of me is thinking Omega for some reason.... That would be cool.

Loved the episode. Fuck the haters, that was delightfully entertaining. It did the stuff that only Doctor Who tends to do among the hardcore sci-fi series, and I adore it all the more for it. It's also Tenth's last foray into the campy, joyful ride stuff, as the last three specials will be very heavy.

P.S. Am I the only one who wishes Malcolm became a permanent companion? Christina would be lovely too, but we need some more technobabble in the regular episodes.

Four beats (real non-speculative spoilers here): It's the sound of drums, aka the Master, as John Simm has been confirmed to be filming for the last specials.

If Ace and the tenth occupied the same episode together, I'm pretty sure the villain would just be instantly vaporized by sheer awesome. Then again, I often wonder how that didn't happen when Ace and the seventh Doctor were together, but then I remember that Ace carried around a generous supply of Nitro 9, so it did.

I think she'd have been just fine. The Doctor NEEDS more capable/interesting companions. Donna was fun, but Martha was kind of meh, and Rose was just annoying.

Personally, I suspect we're being set up somewhat. Its been stated through the new Doctor episodes, that the Doctor needs a companion. Right now he's feeling guilty for hurting the ones he's had, but something horrible happens because he doesn't have one.

Be it his just death, or something worse. Then the next Doctor will be back to picking up hot chicks :D. Maybe even the one from this movie. Donna originally came from such beginnings.

I doubt it. Michelle Ryan works great in this episode because she's basically a female version of the Tenth Doctor. If you tried to pair her against Eccleston's Doctor I imagine she would have gone the way Adam did. Plus, I fathom Moffat is more interested in bringing out his own characters (hence why (rumoured spoilers for the finale) both the Doctor and the Master are going to regenerate together).

Could someone please link me to the Easter special and possibly the Christmas special if you could? I just rewatched season 4 and forget all about them.

It isn't the Master. The Master is he who shall knock four times. Probably.

I think It is Gallifrey. It would be perfect for Davies to put all the toys back in the box before turning over the reins.
