ooc: here's a simple design of the course. The numbers are in kilometers.
|
OOC: Hehe, it looks like a dog sitting up.
|
This is quite possibly one of the wierdest things I'm ever going to do in my lfe...but if it helps...
Scott had only flown by remote a few times. When he was still working with the transport company, he had to occasionally pilot some of the older automated transports with obsolete/malfunctioning autopilot by remote for docking. This would be faster, and probably not quite as clean, since all of the pilots will probably be flying each other mostly through verbal commands. Computers wouldn't help much in this exercise, short of installing multiple broadcasting video cameras and sensors all over the ship...and that probably wasn't going to happen. "Lemme get this straight...we're all going at the same time?" |
"Meh, I don't care much for beer, considering that I'm too young and all, but I don't care much for crashing either.
"The simplest for all of us to win is for none of us to fly this the course. Of course, assuming that that isn't a valid option it would then be best if we all went in a single line formation, broadcasting only to those who would be piloting our ship (to make it less confusing), who would also be behind us. Taking our movements slowly, we would minimize danger, and maximize our oppourtunities for making it to the points. "Taking risks is fine, but when they are uncalled for is stupid. |
"I forgot to mention if none of you collect at least 10 of the check points I'll keep the case for my self." John hopped in his fighter and closed the canopy.
|
John hopped to his fighters cockpit and did a check on everything. But, hey...should Gabe do the checking...
|
I know that this is to promote teamwork somehow, but... "I still don't like beer," he said as he turned around and started to head for his ship.
. Truce did a once over his ship, making sure that none of the damage sustained yesterday gravely affected his ship. After he was sure that no harm would come to flying he activated his intercom. "Grey Squadron: Rush reporting. I'm ready to fly, how about you guys?" |
"ready and steady." John replied.
|
May as well get this over with.
Scott climbed up to the fighter and began the preflight checks. "Well, if noone here likes beer, at least they might be able to sell it to some other cadet for some coin...Gray squadron: Hazard reporting" |
"I might just take you up on that." Gabe said as he clicked his helmet into position. "Um...maybe it would be a good idea to run down the list of who's controlling who once more."
|
Truce nodded, and complied with Gabe's request. "Gabe, you're piloting John's fighter; John, you're piloting mine; I'm piloting Scott's; and Scott, you're piloting Gabe's. Any questions?
"One more thing, before we go, can I ask a question about the map of the course instructor? Why does it appear that one of the checkpoints is off the designated path?" |
"Because the path is my recommended path you don't have to follow it"
|
"Ok. So, who goe's first?" John said. "Let's see who gets that beer..."
|
"Actually, me boyos the idea is you go at the same time." John said as he lined his fighter up in front of the first check point. " And to make it more interesting. The person with the lowest score has KP duty for a week. And if you can't get at least ten check points before I complete the entire track, then you will need to scrub the head with a tooth brush."
|
ooc: KP?
IC: "Ok, so I say we begin when you ready. Cause I'm ready." |
ooc: Kitchen patrol, you have to peel potatoes and such.
|
Gabe fired up his thrusters hard as he was resting in the hangar. One, because he was bored, and two, to signal the rest of the crew to get moving. "I hate long waits."
|
"Let's get moving then."
|
"Will do." Without warning, assuming Scott's ship had already been powered up, Truce activated his remote control and, navigating visually, slowly manuevered it to just behind the instructor's own ship.
Though the others could not see, Truce was grinning. With a plan in mind, he opened his intercom once more. "John, do me a favor and fly my baby just behind Scott's, okay?" Remember rule number one: Always take the quickest and shortest route to victory. After all the Instructor's said, and taking a look at the layout of this course, that simplest way to do is obvious. In fact, if taking this risk pays off, and I'm sure that it would, we might have just end up actually beating the instructor in this course. Of course, the risk could also end with him getting royally screwed over, but he chose to ignore that point. In any case, none of the others would get in trouble, unless they decided to do the same thing. "Instructor, give the word." |
"Gentlemen start your engines." A rigged sequence of lights flashed.
red red red red red red red red red yellow Green John's ship darted Forward through the check point. The next Check point was directly in front of him. |
"Ok, Truce. If that's how you like it." John replied to Truce's request, wondering why he asked for this. John then saw the instructor starting his ship, and heading towards the first checkpoint. John immidiatly started Truce's ship, engaging the engine's to almost full throtle, and manuvered so that he stayed behind Gabe, heading towards the first waypoint. "Ok, Gabe...Do your best."
|
OOC: I just learned that I have to go out of town for about 5 days. Could someone plz play my char for the duration? I'd type something for my char, but I have to start packing in about...now. Sorry to dump this on the group.
try not to get me KP ok? ;) |
ooc-Basing off what Flare had posted earlier, I'm assuming that for training Lasers may not be as powerful as the weaponry used for real combat it should do damage. I'm also assuming that they're using that.
As cadets of the academy we are to treat all training exercises as real missions, simulating everything except for the deaths of enemy pilots or total destruction of a friendly target. Currently, Instructor is my enemy, and our objective is to gain at least ten checkpoints before the commander finishes the course. The best way to do that is simple; prevent John from completing the course at all. I hope this works. Keeping Scott's ship directly behind and close to the instructor's (which was fairly easy as they were simply moving in a line), he opened the commlink to broadband casting. "Instructor," he started as he triggered Scott's now linked lasers, aiming to damage either the engines or a wing. "I'm sorry about this. "Grey Squadron, prepare yourself to break out of line formation." |
John piloted Truce's fighter right behind Gabe's as he had asked. Gabe was doing rather good for the time being, and John was thinking he had underestemated(sp?) Gabe's ability to fly the craft.
Truce's fighter was right behind Gabe's and John would have had a clear shot, but as he him self didn't want to get shot down in his own craft, did nothing. John now put the engines of Truce's craft to max, with the intention to fly pass Gabe's ship. |
"Didn't expect this." John said as his computer warned him. He punched his thrust into overdrive and dove. The training lasers did minimal damage along the wing.
|
John saw Scot firing at the instructors ship. It ofcourse had to be Truce behind it. "Well...everything is allowed in war..." John opened his radio to Gabe's ship. "Ok, Gabe...Let's not let the others win. Come on!" John continued flying Truce's ship, now with full engine power closing in with Gabe's ship.
