dante- no they die it that color in memory of the first Daidoji son of doji and kakita who went into the shadowlands to find something i don't feel like looking up and came back with white hair. Proof that the prissy Crane should leave fighting the demons of hell to the real men in the crab clan.

Finished character. Changes: Dropped per by one to give him 5 reflexes. Also noticed Ronin have 2 base honor, so I gave him that, and, upon writing his bio and the extra notes (which would have seemed contrived to stick in the bio) I realized death trance (namely the part about him not believing in suicide) didn't make much sense, so I dropped that and used the three points to give him perfect balance and one point in shintao. I also gave him weapons, selling his arrows for a sai and bow for the money, and calculated his T.N. to be hit... and I must say I like that part of his sheet. I also thought of giving him a sworn enemy from his ex-clan, but decided he had enough problems. I think that covers the changes.

Also, I was wondering if I could take a +5 or 10 TN to use the back of his katana in Iajitsu (because if it's focused too much he might be able to kill someone with a single draw) which would be for people with the same or lesser skill, or aim for an arm which would be for people he THINKS are of equal skill (those better, that he thinks are the same due to his over confidence).

Edit: I'm also thinking of dropping dangerous beauty, as that he can still be pretty, but just be unaware of how to use it (due to being a social bore), and a point of honor to remove unluck...

Edit 2: Does ambidextrous allow him to wield two weapons at once and does wielding two give an advantage? Because if it does I'll add wakizashi, if not, I'll drop it and something else to remove unluck.

Your math is off by 13 points I'd reccomend cutting disadvantages. To lower a trait below 2 you need to use the weakness disadvantage. You also still need Hunting skill and the ronin disadvantage. You will leave your wakizashi alone and ambiextrous means your ambidextrous if you want to weild two weapons there is a school for that. It's called the Mirumoto bushi school

Now this... is highly aggravating. Mostly because I think a character concept hasn't been taken, then I find out it has, then I decide on another one, find out that the other one was taken as well, and tha the original... wasn't.

I'll hold off on the character creation, but as it I'm either a ninja or a swordsman.

I ran it through the calculator, and I got 14 points in debt... I'm going to run it through again to make sure I didn't subtract something twice, then I'm going to start altering things. Might end up reworking him from the ground up.

Your math was still off so this is one is correct. Also the Black sheep disadvantage and Social disadvantage Ronin are the same thing. Also you don't have a school to advance in. So no Black sheep for you. I replaced it with brash.

I'm not getting a zero point value left over for your reworking of my thing...

45 - 8 for agi is 37 - 16 for reflexes is 21 - 12 for void is 9 - 12 for skills is -3 + 2 for idealistic is -1 + 1 for vanity is 0 + 3 for overconfident is 3 + 5 for weakness is 8 + 2 for brash is 10 + 4 for compulsion is 14 - 6 for luck is 8 - 2 for dangerous beauty is 6 - 3 for crafty is 3.

Now, if I get an extra 8 points from dropping that skill with weakness I have 11 - 10 for glory, leaving me with 1 point unspent.

If I didn't get the extra 8 I have 3 - 10 for glory which is -7.

On my above I have...

So, in conclusion, we both suck at math. (unless I write it out, in which case I'm apparently ok).

Either that or I have the price for skills or something wrong in my .txt file. If my math holds true, however... put that one point into juijutsu.

Not really. They get more points, but over the course of the RP we'll get exp, which will allow you to move up ranks and get techniques. Well, I don't know about you mage characters (which is why I wouldn't have made one), but some of the techniques the clans can learn are down right unbalancing.

One clan gets three attacks per round eventually, another has the ability to never fail a roll completely... etc. etc.

Ronin don't get that... unless they can join a school, which I don't know will be possible here.

Appearances can be decieving. The only strength a ronin has is at the very beginning. As you move up in rank you will out stripe krylo quickly. especially when you pick your spells IHMN.

oh yeah they do. it's just not as pronounced. your rank determines the strength of your magic. when you roll magic you roll Ring + rank.

Wouldn't a ronin always have better stats and skills than non-ronin by about 20 points, however? I was thinking this would just become unimportant as the others reached higher ranks and gained abilities that made the two extra stat points and four extra balanced.

I suppose 20 points isn't really all that much as you get more and more points, though...

Well I can wield 2 weapons to increase my protection, by rank 2 I can make 2 attacks a turn, doubling my damage potential in combat, at rank 3 i can help or hinder a magic spell, at rank 4 if I kill my opponent I can make another attack. and at rank 5 I can make 3 attacks a turn. Not to mention my stats and skills will get better.

Ihmn will get a free raise to his fire magic for every rank he increases, not to mention get better at casting his spells. and improve his traits and skills

Batgirl will become more adept at spell casting, and learn valuable secrets making her more important to her clan. Which will put ninja at her disposal. and increase in traits and skills.

krylo, however, can only improve your stats and skills.

If you picked your spells post them in your character sheet.

You, ihmn, pick two fire spells you like. I reccomend Biting steal or fires of purity, and Fire from within or Fury of Osano-wo for you. And an air spell. I think Accounts of Shorihotsu, Quisesence of Air, or by Lord Moon's light might be useful

ok here's the difference. FIST of Osano-wo is a magical wrecking ball.
FURY of Osano-Wo is a lightning spell.

and the mind control spell is tricky, since it can require up to three rolls at slim odds to succeed and even then it may not work.

And to repel mind control you want clear thinker.

Question, I noticed some skills like Research that help learn spells faster. Is it possible for those that don't start as mages to learn magic, or is that restricted to starting mages? I'm staying a Samurai either way, just asking as I put points in skills.

Appearance: In his late 30s. He wears a full suit of Samurai armor, which he took off a rogue samurai that had ran from his master. He carries a large katana on his left hip, and a sake bottle on his right. He has long black hair, which he keeps tied back in a pony-tail.
Profession: Swordsman
Bio: Tama was an incredible swordsman, very well known by any who use a sword. He had a habit of taking the sword of his opponent when he won. It didn't matter who it was. Those that didn't know Tama knew his alter ego. He was the Sword Beast. The Sword Beast would kill anyone for their sword. Whether it was a trained samurai, or simply a novice. No one could tell that the Sword Beast and Tama is the same person, but if anyone did, he would make a whole new bunch of enemies. His best friend used the swords to make new ones. His friend's name was Kame Sami. Kame Sami was a master swordsmith. As a team, they were unbeatable with Kame supplying Tama with the best swords around. But, Kame belonged to the Yogo family of the Scorpion Clan. Hence, there friendship was doomed from the start. Once, while Tama was out for a stroll at night, an assassin appeared and challenged Tama to a duel. He accepted, and they fought in the forest. During the fight, Tama's sword shattered. He managed to use a fragment from his blade to slit his enemy's throat. After the fight, Tama took the assassin's sword, but found something horrible. The sword was specially crafted by Kame in order to shatter Tama's blade. His friend had betrayed him, and Tama left. He now sits around in any bars that will take him.

Crane family names are Daidoji, Doji, Kakita, and Asahina, Also you don't have an ally since you pruchased neither the True friend, or ally advantage.

I'd recomend Defense over traps. Also if you want to not hurt yourself with your chain. you need nofujutsu. To bad that it's considered a low skill, You'll lose one point of honor for every point of skill you take in nofujutsu.

I seriously reccomend trimming the fat here. Having as few disadvantes as possible is best. Cause invariably they all come to bite you in the ass latter.

You know, you use Iaijutsu instead of Kenjutsu for sword fighting. You only need a one in Kenjutsu and a 3 in Iaijutsu and for terms of fighting you have a 3 in both. that would give you an extra skill point. Also for your bio I'm giving you the social disadvantage Ronin.

Also the technique you chose is the Doji courtier school. You want Way of the Crane.
