Achievement Unlocked
Have you ever done anything you were intensely proud of in a video game? Something that you wish brought up the little bleep-bubble and "Achievement Unlocked" in a little window at the bottom?
This thread is about that. Or more accurately, this thread is a flimsy excuse to brag about the following: http://pics.livejournal.com/miraigen/pic/000fwa2w I swear to god there are a thousand unsaved deaths, and almost all of them were at The Guy himself. |
Damn you, Mirai! *shakes fist*
I beat Mega Man 9 on Superhero difficulty. I'm pretty proud of that. I beat God Hand. I beat Yiazmat in FFXII. |
I suppose it'd be nice to have an achievement thing for FFX. Why? Well...
Winning a race on negative time seems like a great achievement. Lost Magic should give you an achievement for each stage beaten, since it decides to turn into the dickiest game ever at some point and never goes back to normal. Also, beating Bill&Ben in a recent playthrough of Secret of Mana 2... While doing a single character self-imposed challenge. Beating Legend of Legaia's cheapest foe - Lapis: He locks your magic and basically kills one of your guys per turn - was also awesome back when I had a PS1. |
Making it all the way to Gannon in the original Zelda on NES without ever having picked up any sword.

As soon as I 1cc Sin and Punishment on Normal, I'll get back to you. I know there's a Hard Mode once I beat Normal but, geeze, how much do you people want from me?!
Heck, I might post once I beat Sin and Punishment at all. This game is hard. Hard and awesome. Edit: wait, stuff I've proud of? Mike and I have both flown the Dodo all the way to the first island in GTA 3. I beat F Zero GX's story mode. I don't care if there's another difficulty; anyone who has beaten it understands. |
I used to be majorly kick-ass at S.T.U.N. Runner when I was a wee tyke. I was too short to get up on the machine without help, but I did a lot better than a lot of older players. It's pretty bad when a 2- or 3-year-old can beat teenagers at a game like that. Unfortunately, it's very much an arcade game in need of arcade controls, because my dad found a hacked ROM for me of it and a keyboard just didn't do it justice.
[Edit] We're talking older kids actually came and watched me play this thing. It was epic. [/Edit] On the other hand, I used to do pretty well with Kiloblaster, which I have sitting on my computer right now. Haven't played it past making sure it worked, though. Maybe I'll boot it up and take my title back. XD |
Oh, snap! I had to stop playing Metal Slug X in my theater because I had seven of the ten high scores there and I didn't want to have the whole board read "P.M." I'm proud of that, sorta. I wish that the Neo Geo hadn't broken, though. Buttholes still haven't put it back. Maybe it's because I was the only one who played it regularly.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Boss Mode. Intense Difficulty with Charizard. "WOW! INCREDIBLE!" Oh yes, it was. It was so very incredible. |
My one accomplishment in videogamedom that I don't think a lot of people have managed is this:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z...NuclearWar.jpg I fought a nuclear war and didn't suffer a single casualty. |
Quote:
I could get past the first 4 stages of each without dying once. And I knew all of the hostage locations. |
