X-Box Name Trouble...

I finally borrowed my friend's copy of Dead or Alive 3 so I can name my X-Box (enter your name as first place in Time Attack/Survival mode). However, I mistakenly entered my name as "EIN" to unlock Ein...so my X-Box is named EIN.

Here's my question: is there any way I can reset the name without clearing all the data off of my hard drive?

What are you talking about?
I have entered several names/initials into Time Attack/Survival in Dead or Alive 3, and none of them have resulted in naming the console itself. Including EIN for Hayabusa's throwback to Dead or Alive 2.
I'm going to need more to go on than that...

Here's some ways to name your X-Box, straight from GameFAQs:

Dead or Alive 3 - Play Survival or Time Attack mode until you rank in the top ten. Name entered for the scoreboard will be your new Xbox name.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein - Create a Live nickname (Live not required). Nickname entered will be your new Xbox name.

Cel Damage - Create and save a profile. Profile name will be your new Xbox name.

MotoGP - Same as Cel Damage.

NOTE: The only way to view the name given is through Halo. Begin a multiplayer match, and at the screen where each player is represented by a controller (also the team select screen), the name will be above the Xbox icon there.

I used the DOA:3 method, and ended putting in EIN (to unlock EIN), when I wanted a different name...does that help?

Haha, awesome.
My X-box has a name, too.
Mine's most likely the last one I'd entered in DoA 3, if that helps at all.

What a stupid feature.

Hmm...I'll have to try some different troubleshooting methods. Perhaps I'll find some secret way to reset it.

Here's another problem I've been having: when I first played DOA3, I got the warning/copyright message. However, every subsequent time, it never showed up (a good thing)...until I installed the booster disc features today. Now, it always shows the warning message, load times are slower, and the character's/announcer's voices are off most of the time (such as the announcer yelling "FIGHT!" five seconds into a round, and skipping lines altogether). Has this happened to anyone else?

[B]All My Friends think the X-Box is the worst game system ever but its actualy really cool it's because they suck alot at Halo

Just score in the top ten again and put in a new name... looking at the directions there, that should change the name to whatever you put in that time.

Yeah, that kinda doesn't have anything to do with the topic at hand. Since you're new, you might want to read the rules and especially the definition of spam [shiney's post in that thread] around here.

Yeah, technically my post is spam, too, sorry 'bout that. I would've PMed him, but figured a quick link to the rules never hurt no one. Moving on...

See Krylo's post - try different names.
As for the booster disc - it loaded fine for myself, only displaying the copyright text once more (essentially, it "makes" you read it the first time you play the game and then leaves it as an option subsequent times.) Perhaps there is something wrong with your machine.

Mr. Viewtiful 04-24-2004 04:45 PM

I'l have to try the renaming deal on DOA3.

And I really hope there's nothing wrong with the machine, especially because I just got it last week. However, my friend's DOA3 disk is really scratched up, so that might be it...

EDIT: you guys were right. Entering a different high score name will rename the X-Box. Thanks!

Wolf99x 04-24-2004 08:33 PM

Wow. I never knew it was possible to rename the xbox of your own volition. I guess those Microsoft fools were lying to me when I asked about it.

AndyBloodredMage 04-24-2004 09:30 PM

It's microsoft, wat'd you expect? Let's not forget what Halo was supposed to be for...
