Whats in a name thread

Well I thought I would try and continue the thread 'Jessica is the hottest name'.

I have found myself attracted to several Katherines (or versions such as Kate, Katie, Katlyn) though I've asked 3 of them out and they have all turned me down. (Note to self: need to find new name to be attracted to).

Also, to continue what RaiRai was saying, you should be thankful you have an uncommon name. My name, James, drove me bonkers not only because its my dad's name, but because there were 3 other James's in my group of friends in high school. So we had to always decide who would be who between James, Jim, Jimmy, and the dreaded Jimbo. (Always hated when I got stuck with Jimbo).

Also, I can't remember where offhand, but I read some study that showed some correlation between name and the career you chose. Not particularly surprising since certain people have similar backgrounds, and you are more likely to choose a jobs similar to your parents. Thats at least my guess at an explanation.

I really envied the name of my friend Lon. I've never ever met anyone else with that name.

If you want a hot name, Lisa is it. Just rolls off the tongue, like its the name of a girl who just likes to have fun, whose eyes speak of inocence while her smile shows something deeper...

woah, wait, where am I? What was I talking about?

I guess in the end, the name doesn't really do anything. We attach personalities to names by averaging how all the people with those names act, but it really isn't that accurate. Still, I like to think a name has some effect on a person.

Oh, by the way, I have the most normal name ever: Steven. I'm not going to say my middle and last name, but just know that the combination is the essence of normality and boredom.

I once met a man, a writer, and I told him my name, and he said he knew a lot of good men named steven. That guy was weird.

No, I have the most normal name ever: John. Not even Jonathan, just John. Jonathan sounds way more noble than John. It is slang for, as Shiney said, a toilet, and a man who solicits a hooker. At least I can take comfort in that it means "chosen/blessed by God." For what it's worth, anyway; nearly every name means that.

And hell, Rai, your name is damn cool. Just about every girl here has a cool name, actually.

Fiona. It's exotic, yet not. Brings to mind a red-haired, green eyed vixen.

I've only met one other person with my name, Melinda. I have never really had a certain guy name that I was attracted to. I want to date someone with a unordinary name for once. I've taked tim, nick, jared.. I want something different, heh.

Otaku on 04-25-2004 09:18 PM

Well, Melinda, is "Otaku" unordinary enough for you? After all, the guy named Optimus Prime is already married and has a kid.

If yu mean my non-legal name-change name(E.G. the one given to me by those who call themselves "parents"), then I guess I wouldn't have an unordinary name.

Did I already state that I've found Nicholes to be cute?
