No, that clearly says "SUPER MARIO BROS Wii." Compare the font to the original:

Definitely a new SMB.

The IGN Nintendo Voice Chat Podcast confirmed that Miyamoto will be holding a round table at 5:30 PST tomorrow. Three years ago we got Brawl's announcement from this after-conference panel.

Well, at the very least it clearly says 'Super' in a very similair font. Given it's Nintendo, and that the second line closely resembles it, it's safe to say that it will be the next Mario game.

Speaking of which, does anyone know when Nintendo's doing thier thing today?

Xellos 06-02-2009 03:59 AM

It's at 9:00 am PDT, right?

Nintendo announcing a Mario product is just baffling. My truest hope is that its New Super Mario Bros 3, but I doubt it'll happen.

So yeah I'm going to miss today, so if anyone has a decent breakdown/synopsis or whatevs of E3 I'd be grateful.

Kim 06-02-2009 06:50 AM

I should have time to watch everything, so I'll try to keep a list of everything I hear announced and whatnot for you.

Mirai Gen 06-02-2009 06:51 AM

More than just that I'd like to be sure I can get everything in a list for DNPO including stuff like EA and Eidos and whatnot.

I mean there's stuff in there like definitive and "BUT TOM I DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT SOLID SNAKE" but I didn't catch the third party shows.

I have a feeling Nintendo saw the success and acclaim of Megaman 9 and now wish to do the same with Mario.

Regulus Tera 06-02-2009 10:11 AM

Less than one hour! You know where to watch!

Nintendo commissioning Treasure to make Sin and Punishment 2 and bringing it to North America is more baffling. Not only did the first one not come out here until the Virtual Console allowed it, it was one of their worst-selling N64 games in Japan.

This is proof that God exists, dude.

Translation: You should be more excited for S&P2; it's the closest thing we'll get to a Star Fox Wii (but better!).

Did Nintendo release New Super Mario Bros. 2 while I was not watching?

I think Mirai's hoping they skip right to 3, as in make it in the style of 3 and ignore 2. Of course NSMB was already pretty 3 ish so personally I'm hoping for one more like World, cause it was the best other than Yoshi's Island.

Actually thinking of it, one in the vein of 2 or whatever it was called in Japan (Arabian Nights or something?) but updated to 2009 DS levels would be pretty cool.
