I like payload, and am sometimes in a good arena mood. Honestly I like hydro, yes it stalemates alot but the map layout keeps switching up so I dont mind. CTF is fine, just go with Turbine instead.
And I like Steel too, I like that E is always open, it is pointless to go after it right away but the fact you can keeps the defenders on their toes |

The offensive side shouldn't have to work it's way up half the time, as that just makes it harder and harder to be a medic when *everything* around you has flanking possibilities from defense, but only demos and soldiers can do any kind of real maneuvering on offense. Offense/Defense maps shouldn't discourage medics on offense, nor encourage engies on defense, as that leads to overly difficult stalemates and otherwise slows down the pace of the game to a crawl. Hell the "Too easy to kill medics" is my one beef with gravelpit. The only reason Gravelpit and Steel are even remotely playable when I'm doing anything but zoning out is because you can atleast attack more than one point at a time(actually I like Gravelpit anyhow), making it harder to ultra turtle and decreasing the effectiveness of sentries (as they can't stop you from capping the only cappable point if there's 2) -- Steel just has the issue of being too easy to defend when you get down to D and E because of Red spawning positions and the proximity of D to E. Also Egypt is yellow! Bright blumey "boy I sure do envy blind people right now," yellow! I don't even mind the Dustbowl/Badlands/Ravine red desert aesthetic and even Egypt's color scheme, if you can call it that, is harsh to me. Dustbowl is okay until the 2.2 and 3.2, but still kinda bad. |
Well, once a time is picked for us all the play together, be sure to post it as an event on the steam groups so that way more people have a chance to know/join in.
I'd really enjoy it. Map types: I prefer payload to capture point, mostly because capture points can easily turn into scout-fests (my weakest class) and it's much harder to get everyone on the same page. Whereas with payload, the point of contention is always the same, just the scenery changes. I love me some Badwater Basin. The Wandering God |

No because any map with a defensive situation WILL have engies as it's a forgone conclusion -- it's like encouraging soldier on offense, you don't actually need to do it. It's the easiest class in the goddamn game that over attracts new players and to encourage the class even more on defense encourages an even more annoying grindy painful bullshit map. It's also worse because it's specifically in conjunction with a map that is hard to play medic on. Put two and two together and you get ass loads of sentries and no one willing to get an uber up.

Impenetrable super fortresses aren't so impregnable. I remember this one time, in band camp...
Wait, wrong memory. Anyways, a few Engineers set up shop in our flag room what with teleporters and everything, and pretty much had their team defending our flag room from us. I manage to sneak in as a Spy disguised as an Engineer and sap everything - everyone was so concerned the Spy was the person right next to them. Also, if you can manage to Sap & Stab, there's not really a problem. And anyways, I love 2Fort. It's really fun if you've got a competent team. If you don't, you'll probably get Spies everywhere and trapped in your spawn room by two Demomen, but hey. A game's a game. (I'm such a hypocrite. Not five minutes ago I was questioning my TV why no one was Spy checking.) |
Well, you have all convinced me. I moved my puter to the garage so I can get a hard line, and Im downloading TF2 with my next paycheck

BRB Playing Egypt offense as Medic, owning.
