Ragnarok: Chapter 7
Fenris stood on a peice of land overlooking a slope leading down into the valley. It had been a day or so after she had talked to them last, she had been gathering information, "We have to get to Prontera, but the bridge is out." She said, motioning to the workers hastily trying to rebuild the bridge, "We'll have to climb down into the valley, and according to some people I asked, there is a shortcut through a cave at the bottom so we don't have to climb back up." She looked at the others, "Are you all ready to leave?"
"Wait!" A voice called out as Iris Irine approached the others, "I want to come with you." She said seriously, "Sara Irine caused all of this, and I will not let her go unpunished." Fenris looked at the others, then back at Iris, "But without your father or mother, your people will need you." "The elders will be able to take care of Fayon in my absense. They probably can lead better than I can anyway." Fenris glanced at the others, "I don't mind if you come, as long as you don't slow us down." |
"Now that she's here I think I'll go back. I really think I could use a break from adventurin'" Meth said nervously.
|
ooc: Holy shit, I actually got to get in one post tonight!(I hate being grounded)
ic: Dart was ready to go, mainly because he didn't have anything else to do in Fayon and was getting kind of interested in what the Fenris person was saying. Whatever he was going to do with this group would probably be better than wandering around for another couple of months, so he decided against leaving and was waiting for everyone to decide what they were doing. |
Vace was standing there and took a deep breath of the fresh air. It still smelled vaguely of burnt wood, but for the most part it helped clear the lungs and head. "Comrodarie, adventure, and steel on steel. The stuff of legends, right?" Vace said happily. Then he realized he sounded foolish, and went silent, but still looking forward to the continuation of their quest.
|
"Meth, you could've used a break from adventuring half a century ago." Vult held up a piece of wood with a rag wrapped around an end. "I brought a torch, but there's no way I'm gonna be carrying it. I'm not too thrilled with going to Prontera, but if our fearless leader says so, there's no way I can refuse."
It was ironic, though. He had run away from this city to escape his deadly fate. Now he was returning to follow his new fate, one that could end just as grisly as the one the soothsayer had proclaimed. I just hope no one recognizes me. Heh, I shouldn't worry. Vult Skierson has been "dead" for over, what, five years? That particular vision came true, as far as everyone knew. Anyone that knew me then wouldn't believe how much I've changed... |
Fenris wanted to grin a bit at being called a fearless leader, but more important things were at hand. She turned to the old man, "Come on, sir. We need a mage with us. Besides," She added, "You'd have to come down anyway before long. The bridge is out and it's going to take awhile to fix it." Without waiting for a response from him, Fenris began down the steep slope, "In any case, we must keep moving. I do not wish to go through the cave at nightfall."
|
"Like it matters in the cave."
|
After what Vace said, Truce had basically shut up. After a whole day, he grudgingly decided that Vace was right, or at least the guy was doing the right thing.
Still, that didn't leave him without doubt. "So...what will happen if we're in the cave during night anyway?" he asked as he started to make his own descent. "I hate asking a stupid question, but I hate not knowing the answer to a stupid question even more." |
"What happens at night?" Fenris repeated the question, "Nocturnal creatures wake up, that's what happens." She said, somewhat casually. They should make it there by nightfall if they kept moving. They still had to climb down the valley, then walk over to the cave, and make it through the cave, but it was still early and she had faith in the heroes she had found.
"Man, they're going too faaaast." Lidia complained out loud to herself, trying to keep up while carrying her full bag on her back, "I hate heights too..." |
"Beasts can be deadly,' Jerick sighed, and leaned on his spear to help him down the slope, "but a mere fiend defeating every one of us might be unlikely. then again, i am new to the area, creatures differ all around the world, as do the gods the people pray to."
he turned to Lidia, shook his head, and lifted some bags off of her back with his mind, not many, but enough to lessen the load. "Please don't complain as much, you're getting on my nerves." |
