Game Options, Thread of Interest!
Hello peoples.
I'm itching to try out a new RP and I'm also looking to headhunt some fresh blood for something else if people are interested. With no further ado, here's the ideas I am considering running: 1) Soldiers of Light Reprisal (Sword of Light) I'm sure some of the older people remember Soldiers of Light. In a fantasy feudal Japan, it revolved around Kurama Genkai, the wielder of the legendary Raigaki, and his various companions questing to prevent the resurrection of the demon emperor Talkatz. The biggest hurdle in their path was assorted demons and psychos for hire working for Talkatz, many of whom seemed to have their own Talkatz offing plot in the works... I really don't think I could run Kurama, and for a while I wondered if I was better off doing a story that didn't involve Ray Geckos and Tall Cats. However, I eventually settled on the idea of replacing Kurama with an inexperienced youth. It helps give a little more spotlight to the rest of the cast and and frankly, some cocky half pint practically writes subplots. Mmmmm, subplots. Similarly, I've decided to tweak things to give more of a walking the earth feel. People would have the option of revisiting their old characters or creating new ones, seeing the characters are what made the game so memorable in the first place. Since Raiden originally made it, I'd want to check with him if this is alright first. 2) MOONBATTLE The Moon has gone crazy. Are you a bad enough dude to defeat the Moon? Ah, but I am putting the wagon before the horse. This is intended to be whimsical, an anachronistic world filled with gods and spirits, where anyone can be a hero. For a given value of hero. Wielding cryptic and unusual powers, we'll be investigating a bizarre infestation that has fallen from the sky, beating answers out of all suspicious looking individuals in our path, finally fighting the jealous Moon herself. While it'll be fairly linear, I think having a tightly scripted plot arc will be beneficial in this case. We'll quickly build to our final battle and it will be spectacular. So please say which one you'd prefer. Something else where I'm looking for players is... Fracas Enrichment Project Magical Fracas is an RP I've been running for the past few months, but we've hit an unfortunate snag with dropouts. I'm hoping to lure in some fresh blood to rejuvenate it, as I can quite honestly say the best stuff is still ahead of us. It is a magical girl styled RP. I can see what some of you are thinking already: isn't this sort of thing just a pile of sappiness about love, friendship and sparkles? Well, yes. Those are involved. As is this sort of thing: http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...ra/dbuster.jpg Do I have your attention now? While heavily idealistic, Magical Fracas is about two sides with two conflicting world views. Both have their merits. Set in the modern day, it deals with a restoration of magic and the return of the two sides whose war lost it. Different in their approaches and magical styles, new mages are taking up the burden of the ancient Autekka and Verda styles and are fighting to shape the future, while dealing with other problems that are revived from the past. The Autekka-type mages believe this sudden awakening of ancient power is hazardous in the extreme and are working to stem the tide. The Verda-type mages wish to help it along, taking the good with the bad and overcoming the dangers through their own efforts. The issue is that while the Autekka side's still going pretty strong, the Verda side is looking a little flimsy. I'd like to recruit a few new people for it, and maybe the Autekka as well if there's a lot of interest. Please say if you're interested and I'll provide the full sign up info. |
The Moon thing sounds like fun; I'm getting an almost NPF Avatar RP but not quite vibe from it. I'd play, for as much as that's worth.
As for Magifra, I'll get my butt on transferring my next post from my notebook to the thread when I get back from work today. I'd do it now, but I'm burning commute time writing this post. |
Pyros would like to say that SoL is about as lucky and completable as perpetual motion.
I do have a bit more free time to actually participate in Magical Fracas. I just got sidetracked and depressed at the time of start-up, that's all! Pyros would also gladly beat the crap out of the Moon, because everyone keeps mistaking me for Amaterasu, and I'd like Tsukiyomi to stop stalking me like a jilted panda. BY FORCE!! |
Yay moonland.
That said, I've been quite busy lately but will try to find more time for FRACASING! |
I'm interested in the Moon Battle one. Cryptic and unusual stuff is always worth trying, at least once. Besides, I'm curious about what kind of plot you'll throw together.
Also still in Fracas and would so love to see some new blood. It’s just getting good! And unlike Arhra, I have no basis whatsoever for saying that. Except, you know, it really is a good game. |
Hmm I am definitely feeling the Moon one, it just seems oddly interesting, while staring at the SoL I am just feeling complications caused by...complexity scaring me slightly.
And hmm, risking that I'm coming in a few steps after the dance has begun I am a bit interested in Fracas. Why not toss my blood into the mix. I figure I should look back in time to find the thread to see how to correctly sign up. No necro of course, just clarification. |
Yeah, let's all get together and go fight the moon. And it's two-dimensional resident assholes Mignignot and Err. I'm still in Magical Fracas, of course. Jus' trying not to steal all the spotlight.
But if we're doomed for another Soldiers of Light, then I've not problem bringing out the Kimonos and dusting them off... Hah, as if! The Kimonos are always out. They never go away. |
Moonbattle sounds good... I think I'd join that...

Hmmm, looks like MOONBATTLE is the winner, by a margin of all the votes, compared to Sword of Light's none of the votes.
I have to confess, I did decide to try and bottle some of Avvy's magical finishing powers by having a nice simple and short plot. Muuuuch more of a setting though. Should have a sign up thread up in the next few days, where this will actually be shown. It's great to see people are still interested in the Fracas. I'm planning to rewrite the signup info, since it originally wasn't very coherent and there's new info to include. There'll be a brief summary of the events so far. Still, to tide people over until then, the original sign-up post should be enough to give people an idea. Nothing there's been invalidated, I've just filled in some of the details better. The super handy character profile storage thread is also worth a look. We seem to have lost Apathetic Foxboy, Wizardcat and probably Naqel, Relm and Menarker though. Krylo's guy can be found elsewhere. That thread is only for accepted characters, so please don't post anything there until you get accepted. We'll use this thread for enquiries and profiles for now. |
Hmm it is always amusing to see the list of dropouts. Lets see, if I put all the known constsant folks together, which basically takes most of the people who seem like magical girls in spirit, especially krylo, then making it equivalent would be Verda. Hmm, you think a girl built on defensive magic and self buffs would do well?
