All right, I am thinking of a Verbena chick who works at an animal shelter, with a focus on Life magic, and possibly Prime or Spirit, who is very interested in human rights and humane treatment of animals. She weekends with a medieval combat group when she can, giving her at least some rudimentary battle skills, and she makes a little extra cash selling chainmail items, which she is learning how to infuse with power.

Will this fit with your concepts? It's a work in progress, and can definitely be modified.

Seems to fit just fine with the overall concept. The background is still being refined and worked, but I don't think there will be any more HUGE changes before I unleash it. Expect the Sign-Up possibly sometime this week, but the RP is still two weeks out until after my Graduation.

Also as a notice, I might run a mini-RP in between now and the start of the RP, since as of late I've sort of been slacking off and losing my interest in doing an RP. Just to get back in the feel of it, and to get back into wanting to run an RP. Anyone have any suggestions?

The tale of Joshua Matthews? Or I could C&P the story of She-Who-Walks-Alone...

You could give us a chance to wander around your city ooc, just to get a feel for how organizations/combat/interactions will work. A very free-form system might be best.

Other than that...D&D-esque fantasy seems to be easy enough to work with; nice, straightforward quests and such.

Ironically, I was thinking less free form would work well. As in the Demonologist sends you on missions, and you fulfill them, although the total RPG plan and layout is still in discussion and planning to a degree... Considering the RP has a definite goal and bad guy, I'm hesitant to make it too free form, since I've watched lots of free form RPGs fall apart in the past when everyone tries to go their own way. The most disasterous example was the FF RP, when at one key point, everyone realized that everyone had their ideas approved by the GM, when many of the ideas conflicted with each other. Their was a brief argument, and the RP collapsed. Thus, I have developed a mild phobia to running a Free Form RP since then...

AY NO! Not D&D. There is enough fantasy on this board as it is, we don't need any more...

Maybe I will slap together a quick Shadowrun Mission, in the One-Shot RP format I discussed once. I tried one months ago and it collapsed after the first mission, so maybe I can get one to survive one mission at least...

Hey, I didn't mean for the actual game, I was speculating on what you could run in the pre-game downtime. A sort of "get-acquainted" sesion for the city. Since presumably our characters will have knowledge of it, it might be useful for the players to learn, also. I agree, there needs to be a little structure, or you as the GM are going to get walked all over. The powers-that-be at White Wolf have granted us a bountiful harvest of twinkish powers and abilities to exploit.

I have had only one experience with Shadowrun, and it was bad. The guy wanted us all to be uber-cyberized Street Sam types, but wouldn't come right out and say it. Also, he was one of those "old-school" GMs, who feels like he will "win" if the players "lose". Very frustrating. I'm sure you could do better with it, tho. I was just throwing out a couple suggestions.

Hmm... Well, that could work except I don't really know what would be done about it. Except for when the official conflict, it is a pretty slow city ever since the Wolves and the Vamps called a cease-fire. And you all are low level, so you won't be in on major day to day decisions for your respective groups. How excatly would it work?

Ouch, sounds rough. My first try wasn't great, since it was quite literally my first GMing experience, but I tried to leave it open and not kill the players. Of course, I also didn't use dice and just sort of free controlled it. It was alright, but it died out after the first mission when a new player joined after trying to rob the regular players of thier payload, then expected no hard feelings...

I could set up one big mission to fit as many people wanted to join, and I think I'll try that out. Look for a sign-up ish thing later today or tomarrow.

It was nothing personal. Just two proffesionals on opposite sides.

And my character did what I tend to do in a lot of RPs now - Sleep.

That was because said new guy had hit you with a knockout dart...

And professionals or not, you tend to not be happy when you do all the work and someone tries to steal the credit from you...

However, like I said, this will be a one shot RPG, so only one mission for us to get pissed off at each other and try to kill everyone...
