What's your favorite fantasy character of all time?
If you could meet any general fantasy character, be it from a book, movie, comic, magazine, television show, video game, etc., who would it be? And why?
I think I'd meet...ooh, this IS a tough question. I'll make a top five: 1. Rand, The Dragon Reborn (WoT, Robert Jordan) 2. Freya (FFIX) 3. Kefka-- although he'd probably kill me for fun (FFVI) 4. And definitely, Paul Atreiedes (Dune, Frank Herbert, which has to be the best book in all creation.) 5. And...hmmmm....The Highlander, I guess. I know I have way better ones, but I can't think of them now. :( Someone pointed out that I didn't list my reasons for meeting these people; like I said, I was tired when I posted this lol :) 1. He's the Dragon Reborn, c'mon, how could you NOT want to meet him? 2. I just think Freya's a really good character, and the reason she's fighting with everyone is basically because she doesn't have anything left for herself; I think I'd like to meet her for that. Plus, I'd like her to show me how to Jump :D 3. Well, seeing as he's my favorite villain of all time, I would need to meet Kefka. He's not evil for some great cause, or because he wants to be a jerk; he's just evil because he's off-the-wall nuts! XD 4. Has anyone here read Dune? If you want to know why I'd want to meet Paul Atreides...well, just look at this site! Be warned, there ARE SPOILERS ON THE SITE! Just letting you know http://www.badassoftheweek.com/atreides.html 5. I don't know why I'd want to meet him; I couldn't really think of a good fifth person, so I put down one of my favorite characters from a movie, which happens to be the Highlander. Still, you can't say that you don't want to meet him--he is pretty bad ass. |
Why are the title of the thread and the general subject of the thread two very similar but ultimately different things?
Just because someone is my favorite character doesn't mean I'd like to meet them. They'd probably kill me. |
I want my own G.I.R.
That is all. |
Kamina to lift my spirits during the college semester " What? you don't think you can do those equations? believe in me who believes in you!!"

I will go write mental fanfics now.

Pug, from the riftwar Saga. he seems like an overall cool guy, considering( spoilers from rage of a demon king)) he's cursed to watch all his loved ones die.

Two big ones, from books I've been reading recently.
1. Durzo Blint, from the Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. He's a badass wetboy (even better than an assassin) and I love his sense of humor. 2. Alexander Devon, from Scar Night (part of the Deepgate Codex Trilogy by Alan Campbell). He's a genius, a madman, an atheist in a world of real gods, and he's on a quest for immortality no matter what the cost. |
I had this conversation after watching The Last Action Hero the other week. Lawl, probably the deepest thing to ever come out of a Schwarzenegger movie. And as has been pointed out there's a big difference between the two questions of the topic. Meeting someone in person, you have to consider what could be gained or learned or what you could accomplish together.
For example, Death of the Endless is probably my favorite character in all fiction, but the most I'd probably get out of that meeting is a dirt nap. I was thinking about Yotsuba, because damn it would be fun to play with her. But, upon careful reflection, I'd most like to meet Seita or Setsuko from the saddest movie ever. Mostly so I could hug them. |
Yeah, sorry 'bout the difference; I was REALLY tired when I posted it...or maybe I'm dreaming this, and I'm not posting anything at all? I think that Alexander Devon sounds pretty cool. I'll have to look into that Deepgate Codex trilogy, seems pretty cool.

Death of Discworld. He just seems like he'd be that one guy you would want to sit down with and ask, "What's it all about, really, when you get right down to it?" and actually get an awesome answer.
