It's Tesla's Birthday!

What, I have to learn that not from here or atomic-robo.com, but from Google of all things?

Here's to the man without whom Brian would be copy/pasting from under a bridge. Or maybe Robo would have been a creation of Edison then. Either way.

It was cool to see that even Google recognizes Tesla as an important person.

And since they put it up there, people will search for info about him and become *ahem* enlightened.

Besides, without him, we wouldn't have the awesome weapons in C&C: Red Alert.

he created Alternating current! The very basis of electricity in homes.
All Edison did was create the most inventions of all time the light bulb and Direct Current electricity which is the things all computers use...how weak is that.

Psssh DC current is much better than AC current. Notice how all your best appliances have AC/DC converters- yeah there's a reason for that.
Tesla was all about practicality, Edison was all about huge fuck-off machines. I know which side I'm backing.

...you seriously couldn't feel the sarcasm off of that post? I totaly agree with ya

They clearly both have their uses, but AC was the more practical solution to the problem of transmitting electricity.

That said: Edison was a big ol' jerkface. Nya :P

Yeah if you're boring and run boring things like lightbulbs!

Suck it Edison

(ok he was pretty cool too but Tesla was more cool)

Doc ock rokc 07-12-2009 06:25 PM

with out Edison we wouldn't have computers or the light bulb!
Or recorded music, the inspiration of the telephones, The discovery that lead to wireless technology, Fuses, movies, and the beginings of X-rays

of course with out Tesla we wouldn't have Loud Speakers, Wireless technology (they both played their parts in that field), electric motors, Logic gates and some fundamental robotics, The beginnings of wireless electricity (a feat way ahead of his time), and the beginnings of superconductivity
