BB Guns, Airsoft and Rubber Guns

I for one, don't like guns. And have my own personal issues with people who think they need and must own guns. But this thread isn't about that...

It's actually about a little freaky thing about what i just said up there... i actually i'm fond of BB and Airsoft guns. When i was young i actually had one of those old models, fully metal, that shoot plastic pellets with actual gunpownder. It was quite something... untill my dog chew on it. And a few months later they were made illegal... now they aren't quite as illegal, but if i import one it can get retained and set to the army office in my town, where i have to go and pay a crapload of fees to actually have a license to own these mockups.

I don't really blame the law here... most of these toys could be easily confused with real guns, and i see the danger in that. I for one have contemplated the idea of having one just for that "scare" that could set me free of a robbery (against an unarmed thief of course. I'm not stupid...) that faux sense of protection, if you may...

Other than that, i think they are quite cool looking little toys and wouldn't mind having a couple of those.

I mean, you can get some chinese knockoffs for dirt-cheap on sites like dealextreme.com

http://www1.dealextreme.com/producti...ku_19738_1.jpg
This one costs just 6.50 with free worldwide shipping.

http://www1.dealextreme.com/producti...ku_27319_1.jpg
and this one goes by just 7.75.

It's tempting, actually. And Youtube has tons of videos of those guns
that show you just how cheap they are and just how much punch they have (not much, i guess...)

On the other hand, you have little things like this

http://www1.dealextreme.com/producti...ku_11379_1.jpg

For just under 5 bucks. A rubber band gun. And again, Youtube shows it.

In the end i'm not sure if i'll ever get one, and if i do it will most likely hand in the wall or in a drawer in my room. But what you guys think of these things? Anyone here use them or are used to buy these?

if you get seriously into the airsoft "sport", guns can run into the $200 range.

You'll put your eye out kid.

I want an official Red Ryder carbine action two-hundred shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time.

Airsoft guns are wonderful in keeping the Starlings away. Awful birds, those things.

Magic_Marker 07-20-2009 08:54 AM

Clearly the Sparrow hates Starlings (Oh I see wut you did thar!)

I miss my P90. For about a year, My dad, my brother and I would go out into the back yard and shot eachother until we cried. My $40 P90 held a shitload of ammo, but damnitt it couldn't shoot anything when it mattered.

Ah, good times.

Definitely try for Tokyo Marui anything. Their guns and equipment have never failed me and are top notch in detail. Personally I prefer spring actions to gas or electric as they are cheapest, yet just as much fun.

Tokyos can get pricey themselves though. And watch the grain of the BBs when dealing with them. Usually .20 is good.

I remember those rubber band guns, those tihngs bring back such good memories. I had the pistol and a shotgun. Plus we customized our own Rubber Band rocket launcher.

...I used to collect these...till one of the spring operated ones exploded in my face (dont ask...really)
I don't trust many that are really really cheep but i also dont want to spend alot of money on crap...so i stop buying them.

When I saw the thread title I had a hunch it was Bells who made the thread. Mostly because I've seen a lot of Brazilian friends going crazy about Airsoft...One of which found a site that sold them and had uncommon things, such as a shotgun with a sniper rifle's scope and a machine gun. For mounting on a car.

Who the hell takes a car for playing airsoft? People doing actual battle simulations?

RE: Regulation

You see this is where the U.S. has someone beat when it comes to policy. If you have a fake gun here, toy airsoft or otherwise, you are legally required to have a godsugly orange tip on it for the purpose of showing the world that it's fake. That way we get to play with them, and if the tip bothers you, just spraypaint that bitch. Nobody ever enforces that law when it comes to civves anyone. Retailers yes, consumers no.
