Well, I have no PSP, so I can't join in all the awesome. However, after this comment, I can't believed nobody posted this video.

Well, Dave Wittenberg's Kefka sounds nothing like either of them, so there wasn't really much of a point.

But like, no, seriously: Nothing like Mark Hamill. At all.

...I just had a bad ass time with seph. I was fooling around in his EX mode and all of a sudden a spell called heartless angel came up...and i stole all the brave but one from my enemy!...i think how to do it is R+square.

Kefka really needs to sue him for that shit.

That said, I am enjoying Sephiroth a bit more than I expected to. While I find Terra to be far and away the most (as Locke once put it) loaded for bear, I'm finding Sephiroth to be the one out of the available characters that comes close to matching Terra as far as fluidity of attacks. He has that damn downside of bishie posing after every move, which is a death wish if the attack misses, but if you hit with him you can definitely move into the next strike easily enough. Plus, he still has at least a couple decent ranged attacks to keep things from being too limited, which puts him over the other three melee characters in the demo. Especially Cloud.

I want to like Cecil, but I find the form-switching cumbersome and, as far as his moveset in the demo is concerned, neither form really has much to offer. Cloud just doesn't feel like he hits hard enough given how long it takes him to get started, and playing against a character like Jecht with him is kind of hellish because Jecht seems able to do so much more brave damage so quickly. In the time it takes Cloud to sling that sword around for one hit, Jecht has already rushed in and beaten me to a brave break. And as for Onion Knight, he's cute and funny but there's just no power there, and if I don't hit with him he has to go through his whole routine of tripping all over himself and landing on his ass before I can attempt an offense again. I can see the potential in him, sure, but I just can't bring myself to be interested enough in him to bring it out.

But Terra.... Holy shit. Where I struggle through a fight with the other four, I absolutely steamroll with that girl. She moves at a good speed, her attacks flow beautifully from one to the next, and she's able to hold her own both up close and at range. I've noticed her attacks appear to be easy enough to dodge and block, though, so it's not like she's unstoppable, but she at least seems to start off with a far wider and more universally functional arsenal than anyone else. Too bad Megan Hollingshead is kind of a bad actress, though. She nailed the voice but her delivery is just lacking overall.

Now, see, you think it's cool now, wait until you use Golbez's ability. It takes (took? they may have changed it) the same amount of charge time and causes instant break status. (And yes, R+Square is how it's done. Certain characters - Cecil, Bartz, Golbez, Sephiroth and Ultimecia, maybe more that I'm forgetting - have special Ex Mode abilities that are used with R+Square.)

And re: Kefka not being Mark Hamill, I now see that you are all correct. That guess was just based on a single line of dialogue that was audible in the gameplay trailers... and, well, it seemed like something Cartoon Joker would say.

I defiantly agree with you there. I use him just about the same amount of time between OK and Terra. He has the range abilities and a good arrange of brave techs.

Using Black Materia is kind of a pain to use because (IMO) to use it to it's full extent you have to charge it, and that get's hard when you have Particle Wave or Ultimate Jecht shot coming at you.

I agree and disagree with you. I want to like Cecil, but Saint's Dive is too cumbersome as an attack, and his Dark Fire Ability is too slow to use. One problem I have with Saint's Dive is the fact it goes up at the end of the attack instead of straight across. Granted it could seem like a Braver rip off, but I would rather have a braver rip off then missing my enemy by a few pixels.

Onion Knight I like. Despite the rather long time to recover, he has enough speed to make up for it. I find his Thundaga spell incredibly useful if you want to do a Brave break.

I defiantly agree with you ability wise. I find almost zero difficulty going into a Holy Flare Ultima combo. Added with her Double cast as her EX Mode, I can easily do more then 4000 damage and as high as 6000 one fight. The voice does kind of fall flat in battle. Maybe it will be better during the games cutscenes, but if the fights are to be an indicator, not so much.

All this talk about Terra's VA has me wondering, is the person doing it really falling flat, or is it just a bias towards Terra's being quiet and uncertain?

Like, I haven't actually seen any of it, but when reading Terra's lines in FF6, she seemed, I dunno, quiet and uncertain, with every right to be. She's not a soldier, or even a very willing adventurer, IIRC, and most of the reason she got caught up in the events of her game was because of her heritage.

Sort of like maybe Aerith, or Vivi, or some combination in a way.

On the other hand, it's been forever since I played FF6, so maybe my memory is faulty, but I'm just wondering if the VA is coming off plain flat, or if maybe she's just playing more to the role I remember.

GAH! Golbez's Black fang attack! I ran into it once when i was trouncing him as Terra and he pulled it out Broke me and then spammed that rock move of his till it hit.

Yeah, the delivery is just flat. Her EX Burst, for example, has her saying "I will protect everything! I won't be defeated!" but the tone in her voice doesn't really carry the emotional emphasis that one would expect from the line. It's a quality the actress has had in her other work (Nurse Joy, Officer Jenny, Mai Valentine, Rangiku, etc.) that I've never been terribly fond of, even though I admire the pure vocal range she has. It just always feels like she's never able to get beneath the surface of any given character.

That and "Oh perfect light, I want to end this" just sounds lame and it makes me cringe every time she casts Ultima.

I never really had a problem with Joy or Jenny, but maybe that's just the genre? I've also never had issue with what I've heard of Mai, but that's pretty limited.

I'll just have to see when it comes, I guess.
