Once HIKYM gets more characters and pages under its belt I'll see about making a character wallpaper poll for it too.

Red mage all the way, FYI.

Anyhoo, on topic:

...Bah. I am braindead right now. Happens when you sit there just doing basic math to roughly balance creatures for a game in early development.

The folder of evidence corroborating the great HIKYM Tea Conspiracy grows. In some ways I hope that this becomes the 434 of HIKYM. >_>

Tea definitely rears its tasty head a lot in this story. But then again tea being in a story set in China is like wise-ass nerds being in a story set in the np.com development office (if we had one). It's just part of the setting, man!

rpgdemon 09-19-2009 07:20 PM

Come on though, that tea HAS to be poisoned sometime.

At least once in the entire comic.

The tea is a force to be reckoned, just look how terrified Wong is at the prospect of it. As time passed however, he grew to work with the tea, making it his accomplice.

Dear god I've started a cult. :sweatdrop

It's an odd little tangent, this tea thing. I kinda wish there was more discussion around the real story and the art than this goofy stuff though.

I suppose as long as the thread is alive it's good, but it's hard to determine the worth of the story via talking about things that have nothing to do with anything. I assume we're doing a good job on it. Still, I worry about the impact it's making.

I mean, is it just that "other" comic on np.com in the shadow of 8-bit and Warbot? Has it made its own niche? Is it worth pursuing? Should something change? Should it just press forward, steady as she goes?

You don't have any story to discuss, yet (and there's only so many times we can tell you the art is awesome).

Honestly if I didn't come to these forums HIKYM would probably be sharing company with Dr. McNinja in the 'webcomics I check once every three months because page by page reading doesn't do it justice' category.

The fact that people are finding little things to latch on to and talk about excitedly shows that it's a good comic, people are enjoying it... just... well what should we discuss? There's not much meat here yet. We don't know any of the character's yet. We don't know why Fei's a nasty guy, we don't know how kindly a caretaker Po is, we don't know what kind of personalities Fei's kids have...beyond their incompetence in martial arts... nor should we know anything about any of that stuff, yet. This seems to be a heavily story driven comic and it's only a few pages in.

Just give it time.

But I can never get enough of people telling me the art is awesome! :D

I guess you're right. It's to the point where it's one of those things that so long as people aren't pointing out problems, it's doing well.

But if it were my story I would be curious what people thought about how it was paced, if the action was too slow to come, if the characters seemed potentially interesting and why, etc. I guess that will come later once we have more "meat" here.. I have some stories of my own in the works and so I'm always interested in what an audience likes/dislikes for educational purposes :p

Maybe over interested.

Ah well.. anyway, if people wanna talk about crazy stuff that appears then that's fine w/ me ^_^
