Need a second opinion

Now, I know people hated Bush. In most cases understandably so. But, does anyone know for sure if this article has any truth in it, or is it sheer fiction? The fact that it has been in next to no widespread publications or media outlets so far (and that it sounds loony enough for a tabloid) points to me at least that it is fabricated. But, you know, read my user title.

Just wondering if anyone has heard/read anything that I haven't.

Hey, Toronto Star is a major publication...kind of!

And, well, when I watched the movie W, whether or not that's somewhat true or partially true, a major focus of the movie was Bush coming intensely religious. So this doesn't seem surprising?

A quick google of "chirac magog" turns up a lot of buzz from liberal sites around this, citing a book written (in French) by Chirac himself.

The article mentions that Chirac goes into detail about this in the book, so that's no surprise.

I'm personally not able to beleive this simply because I'd have expected it to get out sooner. I think someone would've leaked out this kind of info much sooner if it were true, but honestly we've got nothing but speculation and one man's word that this is the case.

I don't know if he actually said this but he is a pretty important man and generally seen as fairly trustworthy in his word. He was key in French politics for a long long time.

But a google search revels a lot more people reporting it now so truth should appear soon.

Since what Bush supposedly said sounds exactly like what I heard from a Baptist pulpit for most of my life from the particularly fire and brimstone preachers whenever Revelation was brought up (which is most of the time), I'm going to go with a "probably thought this, though who in the world would be stupid enough to say it--oh, wait, Bush."

Leaked out by who, sooner? It's not really speculation, either: it's a direct account. So, basically, that leaves us with "it's only one man's word." Personally, considering the man in question and, well, Bush, I'm considering the truth of this to be very plausible.

My only reservation is I want to see a direct quote from the book or by Mitterand. Translated is all cool, but if I see that I'll be happy. Journalists say it is confirmed by the book but I just want to see it for myself.

Mitterand died in 1996, so you might have to wait a while.

I have difficulty remembering any books from the Bible that included either Gog or Magog.
