A figure of averave hight and wearing a long bloak cloak stood in the trees and looked upon the priests and priesteses with a smile. He tapped his fingure on his staff and then sat down on the branch he was on. He took out an apple and polished it on his cloak.

(I'm not entirley clear about this world, but can I join?)

The "old man" watches from the forest as "Kirk" from the day before runs into the temple and an odd person in a tree eats an apple. "Hmm, this is getting more interesting." Softly, he begins chanting, so softly that none can hear. When his incantation is complete, he is no longer there. In fact, he is in a tree behind the observer eating an apple. "Excuse me sir, but what, exactly, are you doing? And I don't want a 'I'm sitting in a tree eating an apple' either."

OOC (to Xellos): Sure, come on in.

Kairith finally turns to see who has followed, and waits impatiently for any laggers.

The man turned areound and smiled at the old man "Well HELLO there!" he said happily "don't mind me, I simply a humble passerby who got a little hungry...." he said.

"Don't try that on me! You were spying, who is of such importance down there that you need to spy on from up here?"

OOC: How are you seeing us in a tree outside the temple which the portal is housed in from the other side of the portal?

Kairith sighs impatiently. "The man who was most concerned with proof of this treasure is not yet here. What is wrong with him?"

ooc: I was watching everyone as they went throught the portal.

"Spying?!" said the man taken aback. He jumped from the tree and landed on his feet afew feet away from the old man. He looked at the old man with a smile "Heavens no! I was just observing........" The man then looked over to the portal "Looks like it will close soon......" he mutered.

ooc: Not you, Distopyian Rhetoric

"Well, if you wanna keep spying on these people you should probably go through." The "old" man hops down from the tree and walks over to the portal. "You seem to have caught my interest with the big portal, sir."

The man smiled at the old man as he walked away. He then vanished when no one was looking.

Kairith looks around, scowls, and goes back to the normal side of the portal, taking the others with him (by physical force if neccessary; he's surprisingly strong). Once they are all through, the portal closes. He bows deeply to the priestess in purple. "A thousand pardons, m'lady. I had no idea he was going to take this long, nor that you would cast the portal as quickly as you did. I'm afraid we'll have to wait for him to open the portal."

"ok what in the world is going on" said kirk as he slowly backed up to the door (my character is youngish and inexperienced)

"It's quite simple," said Kairith. "We are waiting for the gentleman--Zaid, was it?--who didn't trust my word as proof. Once he arrives, we are going to Darkeep in Reth. I am going to show you all the vast treasure that can be claimed by the one who kills the Lord of Reth."
