Brawl+ Discussion

As much as I think this is seriously going to go horribly wrong, okay, I'll bite.

You guys every try to type with a damn golden puppy walking all over you and stick her face on the keyboard? its freak hard. She was hitting random keys and now has also slobbered all over it. Now I have to clean my damn keyboard

It isn't the only one. In fact we're the minority as far as tournament Smash playing goes (It's like 70% Brawl, 20% Melee, and like 10% Brawl+).

The reason that people made Brawl+ is because Smash is the first time in fighting game history, I believe, where developers are actually working against us - We make wavedashing and SHFFLing, they alter the physics so we can't. We do dash dancing, they include tripping. They also have no concept of balance, as most of the fights usually end up resolving with chaingrabbing. I mean just look at how many people can do that. Brawl+ fixes all of that.

We aren't telling you how to play the game - because lots of people don't care about balance in a party game - but those of us who play it like a fighting game want something more.

Plus, Captain Falcon, Ness, Lucas, Ganondorf, and Link are like my favorite characters and they couldn't have sucked any harder in Brawl.

Plus plus I am sick to death of Metaknight vs Metaknight, because he's the Akuma of Smash Brawl and I wish he would die or get banned.

This can't go anymore horribly wrong then any other thread created on NPF.

I never really thought of Brawl or even Melee as a tournament game due to it seeming like it was designed just for people to have fun. Never really considered it in a tourny light. Though why don't they just ban metaknight from tournaments.

Only reason i thought it was the only tournament game was someone else had mentioned it as replacing nintendo brawl as the only exceptable one.

But I do want to know, Is Modding the Wii illegal since blue has mentioned that Brawl+ is probably not illegal since you don't hack the ROM just the RAM. The reason i ask this is because you said you had to mod the wii to play the game

Mirai Gen 08-15-2009 09:34 PM

You have to mod it because that's the only way to modify the RAM.

Given the fact that I have absolutely no intention of, nor shall I ever, pirate games for the Wii vis a vis installing them on the memory chip, it isn't for me. That's the murky grey area for modding.

Yes, exactly. I just said, this is the only game where the developers are actively working against us pro-competitive players to make it more crazy and over-the-top. Marvel vs Capcom is the only comparison but it's still a pretty staple fighter as far as fighters go.

Long and bad history of myself getting vehement about competitive Smash. I'm restraining myself but sometimes it sparks up again.

Why ban a character when you can fix him. The point of Brawl+ is to make it work as a more serious tourney type game while keeping all of the characters tourney legal options. As for the fun thing, you forget that for a lot of people tourney stuff and more serious fighting game stuff is fun.

Look it up.

ZAKtheGeek 08-15-2009 09:42 PM

Oh, Brawl+ is loaded as, like, a patch? I assumed you'd need to download a modified ISO and load it from a hard drive.

So what does B+ change exactly?

Kim 08-15-2009 09:43 PM

Nope, it's run from the disc.

Here are the changes

krogothwolf 08-15-2009 09:46 PM

I just wanted clarification on the matter.

The modding thing will keep me from playing, I'm not gonna do something that may or may not be legal depending on Nintendo's hazy EULA.

What was this about Nintendo shutting down brawl servers someone mentioned earlier?

Kim 08-15-2009 09:48 PM

Mac mentioned it, but he doesn't have a source so I'd say, for the time being, it's a rumor of a rumor.

If the legal thing bothers you, perhaps it will bother you less if you act under the assumption that anything Nintendo has put about modding into their terms of use is probably illegal as well?

I did mention that it was a rumour and i cannot find where I read it so take it as a grain of salt.

Nikose Tyris 08-15-2009 09:54 PM

Yes it is illegal.

Yes as soon as Nintendo is ready and you update your Wii it will brick you Wii.
