Dungeon Fighter Online
http://dungeonfighter.nexon.net/
Currently downloading it. Looks very very VERY interesting. Basic idea seems to be that you take an arcade beatem'up and make it an MMO. Can't say I don't like the idea, m'self. Trying to decide between either the Slayer or the Fighter class. Both are physical fighting classes, but based on the description, Slayer has high power, decent speed, and good durability while Fighters have even higher power, higher speed, and low durability. Honestly, I'm going with a Fighter, guaranteed. My love of Monk classes can NOT be underestimated, but when artwork for something makes me think Fran from FF12 was modest by comparison, I tend to want to stay away from it >.> Regardless, I will be the guy running around punching things with his fists over the guy stabbing things any day of the week. Anywho, was wondering if anyone else heard/was interested in playing this, and if they wanted to party up for a dungeon run. |
This looks like Breath of Fire II had a love child with Streets of Rage II and out popped this sidescroller.

I just played it for a bit. It reminds me very much of a SNES beat-'em-up...not necessarily a bad thing, as prove by the fact I just played it until 3 am.
Of course, I don't think it finished downloading until 2...but whatever. Didn't have any noticeable lag...but I was playing solo, so I don't know if that will keep during a multiplayer session. I'll probably poke around on it a bit more, see what other character classes are like. |
Every time Nexon makes a game, someone links me to it and it looks awesome.
And then I play it, and it seems to have potential but ends up sucking terribly. I don't really trust anything Nexon makes any more. Their site is riddled with empty promises and broken dreams. And nutritious broccoli monsters. |
There seems to be zero character customization... which is kind of important for me. Especially with the designs that they've got as default.
ugh. |
I can't log onto the damn thing to play. I actually got up to download this game because I liked the visuals and I can't connect to the P(^%% server...
*sigh* |

Alright, got it to work...
http://dungeonfighter.nexon.net/Promo/RedeemCode.aspx Go here, follow instructions. I'll write a review on what I see. -Edit- The Dungeon Crawler is pretty good. I hate a few things. First, customization. Krylo got it down on that one. Looks like you have to pay to customize. Which gets me RIGHT INTO the second problem. The towns are a place people go to mingle. But G. Damn is there ever a LOT of bot merchants! I know more about -Snip- .com than I do about people that might be looking to party! If you want to powerlevel just go ingame and see. The bots are everywhere. I believe that's something that Nexum should address. On to the actual dungeon leveling. The dungeons are random which makes it very good for repeating dungeons and leveling. The monsters are decently varied and I've only played on the basic level on a few dungeons. Yes, you can go back in dungeons on a harder difficulty level, earning more experience. But be warned! If it's too high or low for you, you won't get the xp that you're looking for. It keeps you looking to explore more places. Partying seems like a joke at the lower levels. No point in it and I can't find a good place to do it because of the aforementioned bots. Music is pretty varied and not really generic. Though the beginning music DOES sound like a X-Mas jingle... :shifty: Attacks aren't too varied at the beginning stages. You are measured by a few things: How many times you're hit, combo counting, and "skill" Skill comes in with counters and back attacks which are a lot harder to get when you play by yourself than say in a team. But I have managed to get the S ranking on some of the later dungeons from learning the system. Kinda easy once you get the hang of it. My issue come from the fact that there's really not a counter nor defense button. Yep, you have nothing but attack, attack, and attack some more. I would like to be able to learn patterns and tap a button and BAM deflection! But it takes some work to stop attacks of all types from hitting you. Visuals are as I said. Breath of Fire II battle animated awesome. I'm not as picky visuals as others so I'll leave it up to everyone to have their say. All in all, it's a game I'm gonna play for a little bit. It has me intrigued. *deletes MapleStory* |
This game is my new God. I've already gotten three people to join and am so far loving the game entirely.
Impressions from the last 12 hours: Fun Factor: Well, I played it for 12 hours, 6 of those with my brother. That's saying something of the fun factor. Customization: Er... You get weapons that people can see. That's about it. There are Avatar equipment options, but as far as I'm aware no such equipment actually exists yet. Bots: I've experienced exactly zero (0) so far. I honestly have no clue what Jagos is going on about there. Maybe it's the server you picked? I'm on server 18, and while a lot of people don't talk, I haven't actually seen a bot. Really, the only frustration I've had with it so far is that I didn't know I needed that Early Access Beta Key thing that Jagos linked. If you don't have it, the game just kicks you out at the Character Select screen with some uninformative error message. Also, that you NEED to launch the game from their site; I didn't know that at first, and tried to launch it from the Program Folder. Basically, once the game started I stopped only long enough to cook dinner and take phone calls. |

I played on both the beginner server as well as the one that's Lv6. I can't tell the difference except there are a TON of new guys on the beginner server. The bots seem to go to both so far, as in they just started to creep into the second one. I'll try other servers for some peace and quiet but the game IS good. The weapons do serve as variation right now and I can live without worrying if I'm going to have a pimp hat to buy for my character. Julford, if you want a priest, lemme know. I like being the Technical Pacifistic bruiser that he is. Oddly, I don't see a lot of mages in some of the later dungeons... |
