dang, i wish i would have gotten here early enough to join you guys. I would have been an Orc Paladin Lawful Good Alignment, or baring that, a human paladin that thinks he's an orc.

edit - *reviews the previous pages more throughly* oh, it looks like i might still be able to join, w00t. Well now, lets see what i can do with this character sheet. One question, do we start with any feats? I'm gonna start doing searches for 3.5 d&d stuff so i'll get the character half right.

Neverwhere 11-30-2003 06:08 PM

Gato, Id be glad to have you. Yes, you can goto level 1-4 so up to 4 feats (if your straight fighter) 2 for normal char, and 3 for human.

Crulety, yes, i got your char.

synkr0nized 11-30-2003 07:44 PM

(( Is this the right thread, Never, for me to poke my dumb head into and cause trouble? ))

LilWhiteMage 11-30-2003 10:48 PM

I've just gotten my hand on a D&D book.. I believe version 3... I'll get my feats posted up as soon as I can Neverwhere ^^

GatoFiero 11-30-2003 10:54 PM

...sorry lilWhiteMage, perhaps i should have posted this site as soon as i found it. This is where i got my information from. http://www.wizards.com/D20/article.asp?x=srd35

LilWhiteMage 11-30-2003 10:55 PM

It's okay... I had a majority of the information already... I was just lacking all the stuff on feats, but it's okay now ^^ That should be able to help those that don't have the books yet as well.

cruelty13 12-01-2003 01:04 PM

Neverwere, It's Monday. Less start! NOW!

LilWhiteMage 12-01-2003 01:11 PM

Meek! *hides behind Neverwhere, Gato, and Dante* Scaaaaaaaary ;'-';

But uh... yeah.. When are we gonna get this party started up? (Oh, and about my feats, I'm getting them. Promise @-@)

GatoFiero 12-01-2003 01:22 PM

Dagu?

cruelty13 12-01-2003 01:32 PM

I still don't understand feats. So sue me.

Neverwhere 12-01-2003 01:45 PM

Ok, here is what im going to do. As this thread is 91 (my post #) long, I will have to make a new thread. However, I want one reply from everyone answering these questions if you please (reply on this thread until the mods close it... unless they will be nice enough to not close it till after this)

1. How do you want to do this? Post on a set day (i.e. Saturday/Sunday) or post whenever possible?

2. How big do you think a party should be? (Dont mind me, I will determine this on my own. I just want people's opinions)

3. How long do you think we should do this for? A few levels, long time, medium, what?

4. Rolling will be done by you for a little while. However, if I feel you arent being honest with your rolls I will take this priv away from you. My question is this, how many of you do not have a set of dice and want me to do their rolling?

please answer in a timely fashion. Im currently working on a list of house rules to be used in addition to the normal 3.0 rules.

GatoFiero 12-01-2003 01:49 PM

1. I think we should set a day

2. I have no preference for group size.

3. Atleast good quest.

4. I though i would use my calculator's random program. I was just going to set it to randomly select any # between 1 and 6, 20, ect...

LilWhiteMage 12-01-2003 01:53 PM

1. I think it might be easier for us to have a set couple of days when we do this. That's just my personal opinion though >_>

2. Seeing as how I've never played before, I wouldn't know the exact size of an ideal party. o_o

3. I think we should play for as long as we can.

4. Even if I had the dice, I wouldn't feel right (because really... how would you know I wasn't lying?... not that I would.. but still.) So my answer is... please roll dice for me ^^;

cruelty13 12-01-2003 02:06 PM

1. Every day and when you can. I hate comics for not uśing this method and only arriving once in a week.
2. 3 people. My own experience of half a year, but in a Online RP I rally dont know

3. FOREVER

4. Roll mine also.

Tempest Stormwraith 12-01-2003 02:23 PM

1. A set day would be a good idea, sundays work best for me
2. a party shouldnt be much bigger than 4 people,
3. Till we get tired of playing, so lets say long term for now.
4> i have my own sets of dice.

Set day(s) preferably on the weekend baring in mind that im in GMT.
uhh this is my first D&D campaign so i carnt comment of what size is best
uhh if i hate this then i will drop out overwise i will play untill my eyes are strained and my fingers numb
I dont know what dice i need for d&d so this is what i have:- lots of D6 bout 5 d10 (one marked with tens) and 1 d8. apart from that im usless
also beacause im new to d&d i will need promting as to how many dice to roll, and if possible it would be nice if for the first battle peeps could explain why they are rolling what so i can pick it up

Mikorlias Zard 12-01-2003 04:11 PM

1. Weekends is good for me.

2. The party should have 4 characters minumum and 8 maximum (I know that's pushing it a bit, but we have a lot of people playing this.

3. We should continue for as long as it is interesting.

4. I have sufficient dice, I'll roll my stuff.

Mikorlias Zard

Neverwhere 12-01-2003 04:47 PM

Alright, based upon the info here is what Im going to do:

1. Weekends
2. 4-8
3. Minimum of one good quest, maybe more.
4. You roll (except where stated). I will determine if I think you are lying to me about your rolls, I will do all the rolling. So dont lie! :D Ill post the information later (im at work, so no access to it) on where/when we/you are starting. Meetings of the characters will be up to you though!!

Minkus 12-01-2003 06:17 PM

Our meetings are up to us now or after you tell us where we're starting?

Hi, by the way. I'll be joining in as a halfling rogue, lvl. 3. I've got some real-life gaming experience, and yes, Never knows about me.

(and yes, this is the first post I've made.)

Neverwhere 12-01-2003 07:19 PM

Well, Im going to combine RP and H&S in this. So yes, your meeting and where you go to get what quest will depend entirely upon your group of players. I have already laid out the foundation for the town and have numerous mini-quests and one overlying major quest that will take a bit to develop (hopefully). So yeah, up to you guys to meet

Saturday/Sunday is good. I'm not really free on weekdays, (damn work) so weekends are t3h best.

2. How big do you think a party should be? (Dont mind me, I will determine this on my own. I just want people's opinions)
Four is minimum, six is okay, but ten is just right out the window... 8 or 9 max.

3. How long do you think we should do this for? A few levels, long time, medium, what?
As long as you feel like it needs to go.

There is this program called DiceMage that can roll up to 30 dice at once, d4/d6/d8/d10/d12/d20, add or subtract numbers from the result and drop the highest or lowest dice. I have it. If anyone wants the linky...

http://www.mapmage.com/

This site has a*lot* of stuff... worth your perusal, esp. Neverwhere.

Tempest Stormwraith 12-01-2003 09:59 PM

Just for Reference, whos being what now

Tor 12-02-2003 04:28 PM

Yeah, and... did you get my char?

Ooh and yeah I have my own dice set and a group of up to 8 characters should be max. Could go on for more than 4 campaigns if i don't loose my internet and saturday and sundays work the charms for me

Raerlynn 12-02-2003 05:41 PM

Is it too late for me to jump in?

Kaldar 12-02-2003 06:06 PM

I'd love to join, but I don't have the 3.5 rules. sigh. It looks like the group is full anyway.

Curse you, WotC, CURSE YOU!! THIEVES!!

Minkus 12-02-2003 09:59 PM

So, will we be meeting each other in this thread and gaming in Never's new one, or start it all fresh in the new one?

Also,
1)Weekends/evenings are best for me, still in school
2)I've found that a PARTY (at least IRL) is too bulky past 6 players, and too death-prone below 3. However, if all accounted for know what they're doing, I've had an 8-group go great. We split into two mini-groups, and a little friendly rivalry ensued.
3)Until we get bored, fat-and-lazy, or die. I hope the third one happens first.
4)Have my own dice, and a dice program, feel free to take over my rolling if need be, but, like all semi-paranoid slightly eccentric gamers, they're MY DICE! MINE! My...precious...

Tempest -I'm a lvl 3 halfling rogue...at least, that's what I snet in and got "ok"d.

Neverwhere 12-04-2003 11:55 AM

I want to follow MZ and LWM! Medicine cabine- errr, I mean *clerics* and meat shie- errrr, I mean big friendly barbarian companions are always good for one's health...

Edi:, btw, it's Abigail. And in case you're wondering why he has such a feminine name... well, it's the source for much anguish for him too... Rest assured that he believes in casting affliction on anyone who annoys him too much about it.

Tor 12-04-2003 04:45 PM

Might wanna hang out with GF TS pluss C might need some of everything :D

LilWhiteMage 12-04-2003 05:34 PM

Neverwhere 12-04-2003 06:28 PM

Cuui Mekgungeldil - Wizard - Tarinaky

This isn't a party of adventurers, its an elimination squad.

Neverwhere 12-05-2003 02:15 AM

Question is.. what can I throw at you that will stand up? Nah, I got it all planned out... minor tweaks for the size, but it should work out. As for elimination squad, yeah. This part could/will deal major damage...

Tor 12-05-2003 06:26 AM

I wonder how many will die when we meet our first major enemies?

Dante 12-05-2003 08:37 AM

Depends on what our first major enemy is... If Neverwhere is a kind and merciful DM, our first major foe will be the Archmage "Loose-Bowels" Wozley the Milksop in his Enchanted Item Warehouse. In such a case we will all come out with enough gold to buy our own countries, along with epic-level magic items.

If Neverwhere is a ruthless and cruel DM, he will subject us to Dominara the Erinyes' Nine-Layered Brothel of Violent Emasculation (No Slaking... or Slating... allowed). In which case we are best advised to roll up new characters and *not* think about the old ones.

Seriously though, with two clerics in a team, there shouldn't be a lot of fatalities... the emphasis here is on shouldn't. Unless the encounter is overpoweringly tough, we should be able to squish the BBEGs provided there is good strategy.

Minkus 12-05-2003 11:46 AM

Out of curiosity, who do we have with experience, and who's a newb, to DnD at least.

Also, with a group this large, we could easily split up if need be. Granted, if we're fighting Young Red Dragons right off the bat that's a no-no, but if, going by your 'size tweaks' comment, Never, we take on hunge versions of enemies not quite as...adventurer-hating...we will be fine.

Another thought.
2 clerics
2 tanks
3 magi
1 bard
2 multis
1 rogue

...umm...we could fill a small tavern by ourselves, and overrun the town guard of a thorp. Anyone else think this is kinda funny?

<edit-stuopit spelink arrors>

Dante 12-05-2003 11:52 AM

Neverwhere's probably going to split us up into two groups. Dibs on the cleric! *Grabs hold of LilWhiteMage*

Minkus 12-05-2003 11:54 AM

Awww, no fair...

Dante 12-05-2003 12:07 PM

Hmm... *Thinks fast and ropes MZ and Minkus into the mini-party, along with Cyclone231*.

Now we'll have firepower and a meat shi- er, I mean big friendly barbarian... XD

GatoFiero 12-05-2003 12:13 PM

WTF is a taresk?

Minkus 12-05-2003 12:38 PM

Come on now Dante, that's not fair. You just KNOW there's no way Never could challenge us with THAT party. And now I've jinxed it, and we're all going to die 5 posts into the adventure.

Even more thinking (crap, I need to quit doing that). Would it be better to have some pre-determined realtionships, such and Cyclone and I growing up on the streets together, or the the wizzies being from the same academy, or will that lessen the RP aspect?

The Terrasque (only one I know of) is a massively powerful creature. First, overcome the fact that it is immune to almost all magics. Then, it can shoot magic right back at you, a "mirror" kinda thing. AC/Attacks are insane, and it has to be reduced to -30 to be "dead". Psycho regen, and a wish is required to actually "kill" it. But it's not all bad, you can get dwarves to forge half-a dozen bucklers +5 for you, you can create very nice gems from it, and you will have saved the world, or part of it, from becoming wasteland. Oh, on the up-side, there's only one...sages hope.

The Torrasque (note the "o") is from Starcraft, and is the hero version of the Ultralisk. For those of you who aren't familiar with that game, it's one of the races main land tank, in powered-up form.

I've seen many variations on spelling and heard different pronunciations, but all seemed to be referring to either one of these....correct me if wrong, please.

<edit-added Terrasque/Torrasque/Torask part>

Dante 12-05-2003 01:03 PM

Oh, *that* tarrasque. And in 3.5E it gets what... DR 20/epic, right? Nasty bastard. Although I have seen an EXCELLENT way to kill it in 1 combat round, without casting a single spell on it or attacking it in any way...

Minkus 12-05-2003 01:05 PM

Cast a time-warp spell and send it to the end of time?

Dante 12-05-2003 01:07 PM

No... Without casting a single spell on it, remember...

Use a Trap the Soul Spell, cast it on a gem, let a summoned minion carry it, then when Tarrasque eats the minion (this will be very easy, the problem is getting it to stop ...) Tarrasque's soul gets trapped and you gain mucho XP.

Neverwhere 12-05-2003 01:16 PM

ok guys.. I will make my nice long post about the town your going to all be starting in. Think up ideas on how to meet the others (please, please, please dont all start in a fugging bar!!! Only dwarves/half-orcs need apply at the bar thing :D). Be creative, as being creative will result in xp gain of one sort or another. When I dm this, im going to be encouraging RP, and best way for that is to award some xp for it. Stupid posts like 'am I getting drunk? Roll to see if Im getting drunk!' is not rp and will actually result in a loss of xp. Now, if you want to see my house rules, go here. There are some others, ill edit that post as i think of them. Now, start your brains!

Neverwhere 12-05-2003 01:25 PM

not now man.. wait till I post the thread in about 40 mins or so

Dante 12-05-2003 01:32 PM

OOC: Har har har... I'll jump the gun...

It was a hot night in the old town tonight... at least, it seemed that way to Abigail. Although it was as cool a night as any other, the combination of the heat of the fair and the sweater-like nature of the full plate he wore under his tunic was making him sweat like a dog, and the cool armor spell he'd cast this afternoon had worn off. Worse still, he'd only prepared one of them, and he really didn't feel like meditating now.

There was simply too much fun to be had.

Abigail wound through the crowd at the fair, picking his way through the drunks and admiring the young women. As he made his way to the center of the fair, he raised his eyebrows as he saw the various multitides of people filling the streets. Though there were mostly humans, he could make out several half-orcs, a dwarf or two, and even an elf standing in the corner and wrinkling his nose in disgust at the pool of vomit that an inebriated reveller had deposited at his feet.

Then he saw her, and he forgot everything else.

She was a young-looking half-elf wearing the robes of a cleric, not unlike that of the order in the local temple. Abigail immediately put all thoughts of cruising through the fair out of his mind. That would still be around for a couple of days.

She, however, might disappear at any moment.

Eagerness added speed to his footsteps, and that made the subsequent collision of his with the unkempt dwarf's helmet that much more painful. He winced from the pain - it felt like he had walked into a rock, albeit a very pointy rock with a helmet.

"Dammit! Stop blocking me, dwarf!"

OOC: Feel free to censure me if this doesn't live up to your expectations...

Neverwhere 12-05-2003 02:47 PM

man... i just made the char sheets and this is what I have to say.. Your all a bunch of HEATHENS! I think we have like 2 players who do any sort of worship at all.. HEATHENS i say! You will all burn in hell! or something..

There are basically three fates after death for everyone:

1. You are more than likely to go to hell.
2. You will definitely go to hell.
3. Hell is your destiny.

I'm number 3.

BTW, who are the god-worshippers! I, cleric of Atheism, will convert them!

Minkus 12-05-2003 02:51 PM

Ouch. Does this mean open death we go to our repective alignmental afterlives?
:thief: Heh heh, more for me. Suckers.

Dante 12-05-2003 02:53 PM

I was wondering... if you die as a Neutral character where do you go?

Tempest Stormwraith 12-05-2003 05:14 PM

As a neutral char? dont remember, you normally roam to an afterlife based on your align.
Oh, i forgot to put a god on mine :P, Mystra will do
