What does the Matrix mean?
I just saw revolutions again and just when i thought i had it figured out... it throws me for a loop again. It seems pretty obvios that neo represents jesus, but who is morpheus, and what does the name "trinity" imply? further explanation of the whole Neo-Smith thing would be helpful...
Think of Neo and Smith as a math formula. Usually, the formula is always trying to even out and eventually become 0. Neo represents 1 (or -1) and Smith represents -1 (or 1). There battles simulate the numbers balancing out (ie. 1=-1). As soon as the 1, Neo, is carried over, or transformed, the 1 and -1 cancel out thus becoming 0 and making the world, or Matrix, a happier place. And as for the whole jesus thing..... somebody lied.
i know about the whole balancing of the equation, but it seems there must be a deeper meaning then the one that is explained. And Neo is definitly jesus, i mean ive never gone to church in my life but i got the religious references and i was agreed with by my dad who went to catholic school. he was a carpenter of the matrix (a hacker) he was thrust into the role of savior, he touched "the source" his power "extends beyond this world" he died for our sins (we created the machines) he is the child of god (the architect's "anomaly") think on that for a while
hmmmmmm..... I guess the meaning of Neo is expressed differently by everyone. I still stick by my story (but I don't think I even mentioned it).

Yah, im pretty sure thats just how the wachowskis intended it to be
The Wachowski's most likely wanted to make a cool sci-fi, that would set standards for alot of newer movies and rake in alot of dough. I guess anything goes. Take a look at LOTR. A classic novel by some old European author that turned into one of the greatest movies of our time.

The one thing I never understood is why Nuclear missiles had no effect on the machines. nuclear explodions detonate EMPs, which would fry their circuits.
the explosion would definatly cause damage, since they generate temperatures hotter than on the sun, and the most heat resistant metal on Earth (tungsten) wouldn't even be able to survive that. Some people say maybe the robot city had protective measures from EMPs. If thats the case why don't sentinels have those protections? I know this is off topic from the title, but it pertains to the Matrix and every time I watch the animatrix that pisses me off. |
A lot of things don't make sense... If the robots are solar powered, why don't they just make some towers above the clouds? They have armies of flying sentinals, I think they can make a big metal tower.
Because they are evil, they like manipulating humans...hmm...good point... they would need an awful lot of towers and it is probably more convenient to just use the power created by humans, more cost effective as well
The Animatrix had a firm foundation on how the whole series of unfortunate events happened yet it also pisses me off when they don't answer questions that have simple answers. I have to agree with The Tortured One and IHateMakingNames about how humanity should have won and how the Wachowski brothers made the robots stupider than than a tin can. Then again, the only thing the robots are only concerned about is squishing the human race and taking over the universe. Shmeh.
