This would work if they treated it like an art film. No dialogue, focus on creative ways to convey the Wanderer's emotions and move the plot forward without words. They might have to shave off a few Collossi, or build the aforementioned battle montage with two or three to keep the movie a decent length, but it would be possible to do!! In fact, it would even have the potential to be a moving, beautiful film if done correctly.

Timing would be the main issue. I admit it would be very difficult to do a full-length film with little to no dialogue. It would have to be a bit shorter than the traditional movie. Maaaaaaybe an hour, but even that might be too long.

Dammit now I wish I had Flash so I could make this movie!!! Although I guess I'd need artistic ability too...

Mauve, there are people out there who would kill for your artistic ability. You do amazing work with naught but a touchpad that other artists armed with tablets do not have the talent to reproduce. I think you'd do just fine.

I personally have a copy of Flash (shelled out over $100 for it for a class) and it's really pretty easy to work with, since it's all vector-based and you can go back and change any stroke or fill as needed if you don't like how it looks. Given a hell of a lot more time than I personally possess, it's not that hard to produce good work with it.

See also my panel-breaking joke on YooToob. One hundred frames, played twice.

Average movie goer doesn't want to think, they dont want deep, they want Micheal Bay presents EXPLOSIONS

Or atleast thats what producers think. Movies are massive budget projects, they are very unlikely to take risks especially with licenced material.

True. But the people who enjoyed SotC didn't play it for Michael Bay-esque explosions and hours of corny dialogue riddled with pop culture references. Hollywood needs to understand WHY people loved the game. It wasn't just because it had good graphics and involved killing giant monsters.

But like you say, big budget movies aren't interested in presenting viewers with new artistic experiences.

EDIT: with the exception of Pixar, maybe.

I think it's pretty much summed up with Uwe Boll's famous "das gamers ist pirates" bullshit (I know that's probably not proper German, but I really don't care, since the guy is an asshole). Hollywood doesn't give a rat's behind about fans of the games because they know those people will come no matter what they do with the movie and throw away their $10 on a generic, safe piece of crap designed to not scare away what they see as the general public.

yup, but as I said before if they want to try something new, they'd probably just make something original instead of getting a licence. Which is more or less exactly what they do

When I grow up I want to be a cynic like most of you people...

I think this would contradict one of the great things about SotC which is that you don't know anything about Wander or his village or even what relationship he had with this girl he's running around slaughtering peaceful creatures who are pretty much just minding their own business to save. His motives are just another assumption everyone makes at the outset of the game, the same way they just assume that it's a totally good idea to trust the crazy sky-voice and run around killin' things because hey, that's what main characters do.

Adding to that point, IIRC the only reason we know Wander's name is because of the Japanese version of the game - I don't believe it's even mentioned.

I never thought that was a good idea. Soon as I killed that thing and got my black coma gunk all over me I knew it was a bad idea to keep doing it. But you know, failure is the only option and all that. Plus I kind of assumed he knew from the start he was making a deal with the devil. That voice never deceived him either
