New Red Dwarf? I'm so excited, all six of my nipples are tingling!

The UK television channel Dave has commissioned another series of Red Dwarf in 2010, according to a very reliable source on the interbuttz. Depending on how you felt about the recent special, Back to Earth, this may or may not be excellent news.

Just passing that tidbit along to all our board's resident Dwarfers. That's right, both of you.

Six nipples?

Hmm... I think I need to revise some things.

From zero to sexual innuendo in one reply. Arguably I should have expected that.

Care to fill us Elves in as to what Red Dwarf is?

This Wikipedia article should offer the bare details; from one fan's perspective, it's one of the funniest and most watchable shows England has ever produced--particularly in the area of science fiction.

Looking forward to it. :D

And in your opinion, how was this special you mentioned?

Haven't really gotten around to seeing the special just yet for a variety of reasons :sweatdrop . That said, other Dwarfers of my acquaintance (including the people who've posted on the site I linked in the original post) appear to be kind of split on it. Liking the special seems to depend partly on whether or not you liked the last two series of the show (which were written without one half of the two-man writing team) and partly on how many times you've seen Blade Runner (apparently there were a lot of nods to the film throughout the special, including plot-important elements).

Mm, kind of torn on this. I thought the special was alright, nice to see the old cast together again and it did have it's moments. However as a whole it didn't really click with me.

All in all, might as well see what they can do with it. I shall be tuning in to watch!

Also, Ace Rimmer vs Nazis.

Awesome.

Personally I really didn't like the special. There was no atmosphere, the comedy was barely existant and it just felt cheap. Really I think it's safe to say by this point that Red Dwarf has lost its way.

I'll stick to rewatching the old episodes instead, unless this new series really pulls out all the stops to bring the series more in line with its roots.
