Doing it live!

Mark your calendars, on Wednesday the 21st at 10pm EST I will be hosting a radio show until midnight. Granted this isn't the show yet. I'm still working towards my own spot. But, maybe I can use this to accelerate the process...or bring it to a grinding hault. The usual host is out on vacation so I'll only be subbing in.

Of course the rest of the DJs here think I have "a great on-air voice", an opinion with which I completely disagree. But, what I do have is an arsenal of rock music and Freakazoid sound effects, as recommended in the previous thread. I'm making this thread early so I can compile a list of requests to download and burn on CDs as a backup. I'd rather the first show not be too much of a culture shock, the type of music usually played on this station is nowhere near rock. So I'll be sticking mostly to light and classic rock. If you could keep your requests at least close to that, and swear-free, I'd appreciate it.

Since this will be sort of my first show, I want to come on with a bang. I want to surprise the hell out of them. On a good night they'll get somewhere around a dozen phone calls in three hours, if they're lucky. If we wait like an hour, then start with the phone calls blazing in, it would make quite an impression. A fraudulent impression, but effective. Unfortunately, I can't air any of the phone calls because right now we're operating with no delay. Maybe I could settle for just lying and making it like the requests posted here were phoned in.

In the meantime, hopefully the guy doesn't change his mind and get someone else to fill in for him. For now I'll just operate on the assumption that my big premiere is coming up. I think that with the help of NPF we could make that night...interesting.

Thread title is misleading.

Seriously, didn't we get all the innuendo out of our systems in the penetration thread?

Play some Cake. Everybody loves Cake.

Nice...
Can't recommend much really good music, but good luck!

Just make sure you don't finish prematurely.

Considering I know nothing of this radio station, I'll just recommend The Hounds or Light Up The Night by Protomen. Because The Hounds is great, and totally not rock-like at all, while Light Up The Night totally has a classical rock feel to it. That, and I insist everyone gets some rock-opera in their life at SOME point.

Otherwise... Meh. My light rock music knowledge is worse than my rap or alternative rock knowledge, so I'm not much help there. We Didn't Start The Fire by Billy Joel, because I friggin' love that song >.>

Go with some lighter Boston and Kansas. Carry On My Wayward Son or whatever the real name is is a nice classic rock tune that everyone knows and you'd have to be crazy to hate.

Thunderstruck!

Well, it's hard to get more classic than Bob Dylan, I'd say. A few tracks off Blonde on Blonde, Highway 61 Revisited, and/or Blood on the Tracks ought to awesome your show up quite, quite nicely.

Also, Pink Floyd. Can't hardly go wrong with some Dark Side of the Moon. Maybe some Ozzy Osbourne too, come to think.
