Left 4 Dead 2 Demo impressions

Just played through two rounds of the demo. It's the first two stages of the final campaign, co-op and single player only.

- Machete is so much fun. Heads will roll!
- I really like the weapon sound effects.
- The spitter is indeed pretty obnoxious.
- The graphics seem a bit better than the first one.
- All the music has a slight jazz flavor to it. (Hordes incoming, crescendo events, etc)
- The sole crescendo event is really fun because it forces you to run through a maze and do some climbing to turn it off.
- Ammo piles are more scarce, but you'll find more weapons scattered about.
- The infected seem much more aggressive overall. And there are usually more about.

Overall, it was really fun.

- Really wanted to try out playing as the special infected, since I'm a versus player at heart.
- Love the multiple versions of the same weapon instead of just tier 1 weapons, tier 2 weapons.
- Like that their breaking weapon distribution up, i.e. not having the weapons always come in groups of 3.
- Love the new secondary items. Let myself die just to be brought back with the d-fib once (brings you up to 50%). Adrenaline's speed boost is wonderful for moving crescendo events (or suicidal if the rest of the group doesn't run with you), can't wait to start adrenaline-fueled death races. I see boomer bomb being used on tanks/witches a lot, which should be a lot of fun.
- Moving witch presents a new challenge while removing/rebalancing some of the old witch challenge. It was always terrible when for one team the witch is inside a doorway you have to treverse, and at other times the witch is on the far side of a wide open field. Moving witches will hopefully mean both situations all the time, depending on timing.
-The new infected look to be just the thing the game needs, each offering a way to break up highly defensive slow moving packs of players.
- Didn't see any incendiary rounds yet.
- Like the new armored infected.
- Melee weapons are fun and not overpowered/underpowered.

Overall it seems the game has shifted its focus to being more aggressive, faster paced, and requiring players to move-shoot rather then move-then-shoot.

Run or shoot...RUN OR SHOOT!?
BOTH!

one thing i noticed was that the way the player moves and holds/moves their weapon feels a little stiffer than in the first one.

i do like how at least one campaign in in the daytime, as i am afraid of the dark.

So very stingy

Not much longer than the first demo.

Throwable boomer bile seems to be actually useful. It's like a pipe bomb that doesn't explode, but you can put it on specials (like the tank). Possible combo: bile + fire = fun times? I picked some up the first time around but was afraid to throw it.

That is hilarious. I see in that video you can choose which emotion your character uses. Is that just in the PC version, like with TF2?

It's a zombie apocalypse shooter made by Valve. Why the hell do we even need impressions?!

I really did not like the crescendo event. My group got split up easily and bogged down. Would have been easier if one of us had a pipe bomb.

Demo's criminally short.

I like being able to melee infected to death so quickly. Even a Charger would go down after a frying pan to the head.

I hate the jockey so much. See it coming, am never able to target it before it's on me.

Anyone encounter a Tank at all? Played through the demo twice and haven't seen one.

Played the demo AND...Its cool
IT really depends on the team...i played with a friend and his friends on hard and we slid through the second level in 10 minutes encountering 2 witches (now scarier then hell) 2-3 jockeys, 2 smokers, a tank (boomer bomb FTMFW), a charger(i got hit but he ran through a hoard of zombies and nearly took out half of them), and a boomer and we all got to the very end of the level before one of us (Me) died to a spitter ambush and the other guys abandoned me justly because if they tried to save me they would have gone down as well.
on my 3rd time through i went with a random team 2 who never played a l4d and one who was a expert at l4d1 (and takes the Slow and steady method) needless to say because i was the one that was doing the most assists and stuff i was the one most targeted by specials The teammates never helped me intill the 8th time we failed and they realized that every man counts.
The number of ways I and my teammates failed
they didn't run on the crescendo bit while i ran almost all the way before a smoker got me.(teammates)
Boomer bombed a witch to get through to the safe room (we survived but it was very noobish)
Everyone but me grabbed the hunting rifle and shot the hell out of the horde that i was shotgunning though (death by teammates)
Boomed then jockeyed then charged all with in 10 second of each other while my teammates RAN AWAY! Died and then guy with the Defibrillator Comes up and grabs my health pack. (both and yet more of the teammates fault)
died while i was healing (i had 10 health left) because the guy that was "protecting" me ran off to grab a guitar then came back and grabbed my health kit!(teamwork fail)
spitted, boomed, and smoker'd in the crescendo event 3 feet from the button.(me and my teammates BECAUSE THEY STAYED IN THE VAN!
