New most favorite thing ever. Shotgun sniping. Found me an above 80% accurate shotgun with decent explosive chance and a scope. Makes for awesome sniping. You just have to get in the general area and a few of the pellets hit.

Sledge is a bitch.
Took me to resort to... well, actual strategy to beat him. He's stupidly fast for such a big character. No worries for him to get up-close with that shotty of his. Beat him, though! Now I'm at Lucky's, jus' chillin'. |

Seriously, he was a bitch. Eventually I resorted to cheap shots with my Assault rifle and dropping the Scorpio in his room, and then dashing out again. (Didn't know you could actually open the door again, the first few times. XD) |
I didn't have much problem with Sledge himself, it was the damn burning psychos that would come up behind me when my shields were down and land a killing blow, forcing me to turn around and switch to my revolver or melee and kill them to get a second wind. The funny part is, I landed the killing blow on Sledge while dying because I couldn't turn far enough to hit the burning psycho that had gotten me. Gave me enough xp to hit lvl 20, too.
Even though I've got some complaints about the game, I am having a massive amount of fun as Mordecai. |
Firs ttime round Sledge was a bastard, but only because there were 4 of us and I got bogged own trying to save one guy whilst he was being melee'd from behind. Inevitably I died and by the time I respawned Sledge was already dead.
The next time was easier, me and a soldier just unloaded on him and he dropped in seconds. Same thing happened with 9 Toes too. Very odd. |

When I soloed Sledge (this is my first play through) that lady in my head was all like "Sledge has a crazy shield so you'll have to whittle that down first." So I was all worried. I ran in and dropped my Scorpio at a choke point and two shots later his shield was gone. Forgot I had a shock artifact equipped which was lucky for me. After that he got wedged between the shields of the turret and a wall. Then it just took like 4 shots with my Matador and along with some shots from my turret to kill him. My Matador was doing something like 28*12 damage and I pretty much shoved it in his face. He was dead before his buddies spawned. I didn't even see them until I turned to leave.

No I mean the next time round we basically 1 (2) shotted him. Obsurdly easy, even compared to the first time. By the way Melfice, what level are you up to now? I was wondering if you're up for some co-op yet and I wanna make a new character anyway at some point, though if you're already too far along I may not be able to catch up. |
Skraggzilla at lvl 16. Not that fun. I am guessing I need a corrosive weapon. Even with Sledge's shotgun I still couldn't do a lot of damage. We got through 1/3 of his health before we gave up. Out of shotgun, rockets and sniper ammo.

Ok so apparently I somehow managed to over level. Like I was in the 15 range when I attacked Sledge and around 20-21 when I attacked Skagzilla. I haven't even gotten through Krom's Canyon and I'm already like level 30.
Edit: wait no I was closer to 18-19 when I took on Sledge. |
Holy shit, One-Eyed Jack's pistol is madly overpowered. @__@
Anyway, coming up to the end of New Haven, I think, and this is what I currently have in terms of skills: http://downloads.2kgames.com/borderl...52030500000000 Stockpile, Impact and Barrage are all brought up to 5/5 through the use of a Support Gunner class mod. Pretty silly they didn't think of showing that on the skill chart though. Would make leveling up easier a bit, but eh. |
It's worth noting that even if a skill is at 5/5, your skill bonuses from Class Mods add on top of that.

Ah well. Can't say I'm actually complaining about my current build. The accelerated shield restoration does help a bit. |

Its just kind of sad that they never seem to be quite as effective after you get them. They're still nice but not quite as nice as they seemed when they were being used on you.

Oh fuck don't I know it. I fucking hated fighting One Eyed Jack! That damn revolver of his just destroyed my shields every time. But then once I got it, it was... ok. The accuracy was crap though.
Still, I have better weapons now. I found myself an automatic shotgun. 150x9 damage, 10 accuracy, but a 12 round mag and 1.8 firing rate. It's practically an automatic shotgun; basically you just hold down the fire button and spew out an unbeatable wall of pellets that turns anything into gibs. Truly devastating, but eats through ammo like nothing else. You should see it blow the Awesome Rakk Hive to chunks! Also find myself a fully auto sniper, 8 rounds, 2.5 fire rate. Godly, but uses too much ammo for my liking and encourages recklass shots. Interesting though. Then there's my Hellfire SMG, recently replaced by an even more powerful incindiary SMG (lacking the red text obviously) but with a much faster fire rate, larger mag, and an incredible 4.2 zoom. I'm just about to move on to the Salt Flats on my 2nd playthrough and the weapons I'm finding now are incredible. I can't wait to beat the final boss and have ALL weapon drops taken into the 48 level minimum end of the spectrum. They must be obsurdly powerful! Oh and DLC is coming on the 24th of November, which means even harder enmies, new loactions to explore and new things to kill, mostly zombies! Borderlands just gets more awesome the more time goes on. |
Oh, hey, did you guys know that the flavor text on those guns actually does something?
"Pew pew pew" causes the shots to have an aoe effect on impact, "Sometimes, I forget to reload. " on the Dove makes the gun not use ammo. I believe the Hellfire text makes the elemental effect happen at 100% |
