In so much as I have absolutely no interest in Diablo Clone number 253...

It also has a lightning-type attack that leaps to one nearby target, also almost identical to Electrocute.

I don't know if accusing a game of having a heat beam spell and a lightning spell that arcs to other enemies is really a good marker for plagiarism. You'd have a harder time finding games with mages that DON'T have spells almost exactly like this.

Additionally, while the art direction (particularly in coloring and textures) is more... artistic than realistic, the way levels and rooms are designed seemed similar to the game play videos I've viewed from Diablo 3, particularly in the sense that you can view lower, mostly inaccessible levels rather than entirely flat like such games have been in the past.
Silverlight did it before either of them.

But really, is there such a thing as an original Diablo clone? Is there one where your classes aren't extremely similar, where the story doesn't amount to 'there is somethin' scary down thar', and where 90% of the game is grinding gear like it's an MMO, except it's not?

Pretty much every top down dungeon crawler I've ever seen I've dismissed because it's like, man, if I wanted to play Diablo I'd go find my old Diablo discs.

Isn't Runic Games made up of some of the original staff that worked on Diablo?

Saw the quick look on Giant Bomb; really would have been nice if they had included multiplayer in it. As this looks like the kind of game that would thrive on it.

Ah, LAN'ing it up on Diablo 1 & 2 ... those were the days.

You should be careful, krissgjeng. People with that vowel:consenant ratio that are endorsing a video game look suspiciously like spam bots.

I googled this dude's name and e-mail long before any of you replied here and even the name alone is enough to see he's legit. Don't get me wrong, it's good you're all keeping an eye open, but at the same time if an account is a spambot it's not going to "be careful" and if it isn't there's no problem. And we're usually pretty good at finding out.

tl:dr: consider the report button. :)

Yeah, don't worry about it. :)

I kinda like the cartoony art style. The Alchemist (at least in name) sounds out of place though with the other two. You have the Destroyer, the Vanquisher, and the Alchemist.....I don't know, it just would have sounded better if the magic using class was a "something"-er like the other two. Burninater? I got nothing.

Anyway, I'm with Krylo on this one. If I wanted to play Diablo, I'd just go play Diablo.

Then there are people like me, who played Diablo to death and are sick of the mostly filthy cheating community. And those who aren't filthy cheating bastards do the same thing the filthy cheating bastards do, except without cheating.
They don't play the game, they just Level their characters as quick as possible.
Today you can only play the game with newbies and have a decent experience.
