music intro
After the events on another thread I wandered who here is a musician ( I don't now if this has been done before) so I made a info sheet for musicians (sp) to fill out
Instrument (vocals and songwriter are ok too): Band your in (type of band too): greatest achevment(sp): do you like the idea of a Nuklear power forum band: Favorite peice of music: Amount of time you have played your instrument: my list is: drummer school concert band learned to play drum set (before I could only play snare drum) yea it could work bristal bay legends or Mission Impossible theme song 1.5 years |
I'm a saxophonist. I'm tryin' to get a minor in music composition.
|
I play a french horn, and have for 2 years. Before that, I played trumpet for 3. I'm in my school's Wind Ensemble.
And as for my favoite piece....wow, don't even get me started. I'd run out of post room on Bach alone. And marching band. Four years of marching band. |
Violinist
Hamilton Symphony, SESA Concervitory Symphony, South East Symphony, Idywild Festival (all orchestras) Playing Mozart Violin Concerto before a live audiance with an orchestra behind me and not screwing up. Meh Would you like the list? Mozart's Don Giovani, Mendlesohn's Violin Concerto, Beethoven's seventh symphony, Tchaicovski's practically everything, Stravinski's Ballets, Shosticovitche's practically everything... oh yeah, and Paranoid Android by Radiohead. and 9 years. |
I played the clarinet for 4 years. I played in school symphony, but not in a band. The greatest thing I ever did in music was become 1st chair of my section. I guess a band of us forumers might work, I really don't know. My favorite piece was one from 8th grade, "Twilight of the Silver Moon" it was called. Either that or "Caravan".
|
Instrument:Euphonium (extr points if you actually know what one is)
Band your in:Only ever played in my Highschool concert Band and a brief stint in the HS marching band greatest achevment:Going to a state compition and playing the first 6 measure of the piece completely solo. (The other guy that was supposed to play to passed out) do you like the idea of a Nuklear power forum band: Meh could work but how whould it meet and practice Favorite peice of music:Hall of the Mountain King because its really easy but sounds so complex everyone thinks your some kind of genius Amount of time you have played your instrument:bout 5 years |
+Instrument : My computer. Software is MadTracker 2
+Band : Solo artist. Name's next to/in the avatar. +Genre : Breakbeat, French Dance/House, House, Downtempo, Chiptune (Like Nullsleep, just different; Usually fused with breakbeat) +Greatest Achievement : n/a +Your thoughts on the idea of a Nuklear Power Forum Band : Behold my ASCii kitten of w00t. __________ (w00t) _______Oo .oO ____/|||| +Favorite Piece of Music : n/a +Amount of time you have played your Instrument : I've played the computer for about 13˝ years now. MadTracker 2, though, I started using in mid-2002. Before that, it was ScreamTracker 3. And before that, NoteWorthy Composer (MIDI). The Euphonium Just more on that NPF Band idea... It would take some work, true, but it could work out very well if enough effort was put in. Anyone up for a collaboration over-the-net tune? ;) |
Instrument (vocals and songwriter are ok too):In this order: Voice, piano, percussion
Band your in (type of band too): I'm in Choir at School, and Marching Band greatest achievement: Being in the music program at all.....long story ;) do you like the idea of a Nuklear power forum band: Only if we could play music from the FF series :D Favorite peice of music: "Der Holle Rache kocht in meinem herzen" by WA Mozart (also known as "the queen of the night aria"). Amount of time you have played your instrument:I've sang as long as I could talk, tho I've been STUDYING it the last 3 years. Piano 7 years, Percussion 3. |
Now that I have more time I can elaborate
Instrument: Saxophone. Mainly Alto, but if need be I can always switch to Soprano, Tenor or Bari(even Sopranino, Bass or Contra-bass, but I mean, come on, who has one of those?), the saxophone family was built for that purpose. Band your in: Niceville High School. Also tried to form a ten piece saxophone choir, but that flopped. greatest achevment: Almost completeing an arrangement of Pachelbel's Canon for two sopranos, four altos, two tenors, a bari and a bass sax. Yea, I didn't finish, so that's why the choir thing didn't work out. do you like the idea of a Nuklear power forum band: Well, what would we perform before? Maybe we'd get a spot on the website. Heh. Favorite peice of music: This is a tough one. As long as it is a good piece I'll listen to it. Amount of time you have played your instrument: 7 years? I think. Not too sure about that one. My goal in life is to compose a symphony w/ minor vocal parts entirely in Quenya. Or Sindarin. Whichever would sound better in the piece. Until then I'm going to try my hardest to become a composer with enough renown that such a piece would actually get performed by a symphony. Who knows, maybe it'll get performed by the Chicago Symphony. Or one of the European Symphonies. Don't laugh, it's the only real goal I have other than the very vague goal of "become an engineer of some type." |
Instrument (vocals and songwriter are ok too): Let's see... Vocals, Lyric writing, and GUITAR!!! (I can manage bass too)
Band your in (type of band too): I'm not in a band right now. I used to be in a punk band. I was in a metal band for a few weeks before I got bored with the guys in it. greatest achevment(sp): Having my band show up to an assembly at the high school I went at the time. We worked it out with the principal that we could play a song or 2 at the end of it. It was awesome! do you like the idea of a Nuklear power forum band: It could work, we'd have to compilate online. It would be kinda fun. Favorite peice of music: Hrmm... being in a college choir, I'd say I like Handel's Coronation Anthems. Amount of time you have played your instrument: I've had vocal training for like 10 years now. I've played guitar (and bass) for just over 2 years. Quote:
|
My list:
Guitarist. No band currently. Greatest achevment...Well I don't really have any...the fact that I started... :D Nuklear Power band? Well sounds good, but I couldn't be there practicing... Well I don't really have any favorites, but I like metal and rock music... I have played guitar for about a little over a year now... |
I'm trying to get someone to teach me flute. I really want to learn it!!
|
I play the trumpet in a school wind ensemble, but i want to get out. I wanna learn how to play bass guitar.
|
Instrument (vocals and songwriter are ok too): Bass guitar, specifically, the discontinued Epiphone Rivolli II.
Band your in (type of band too): None. Want one, though. Would like to play ska, but no one else likes it, so I've got no one to play it with. greatest achevment(sp): Memorizing the Super Mario Bros. 2 theme. do you like the idea of a Nuklear power forum band: Not very likely, but it would be cool to do something along the lines of Video Game and Anime themed music. Favorite peice of music: To listen to: "Howwhywuz, Howwhyam" by The Mighty Mighty BossToneS. To play: "Popcorn" by The Mad Caddies, "Drunks and Kittens" by The Mighty Mighty BossToneS, and the Super Mario Bros. 2 theme. Amount of time you have played your instrument: I think about three years now. On a sad note, I suck. I really, really suck at bass. I need to get better to be in a band, but I think I could only grow if only I was in a band. Evil circle. Well, on second thought, I'm still not that bad, especially for being self taught. Sucks learning on a bass, because most music is just one string being plucked for three minutes. Not fun or interesting to play. If you get into bass, look at the ska tabs. Ska usually has more fun bass lines. |
For whomever said bonus points for knowing what a Euphonium is:
It is the insturment commonly refered to as a baritone. It sits in your lap, often on a pillow. In many respects, it looks like a quarter-sized tuba, except with valves instead of keys. It also feels fuckin weird to play a euphonium for an hour, then start playing french horn again. Now where're my points? |
Instrument (vocals and songwriter are ok too): Midi Synthesizer
Band your in (type of band too): N/A greatest achevment(sp): Hitting keys and random and actually producing something that sounds nice. do you like the idea of a Nuklear power forum band: Not really. Favorite peice of music: FF7 Boss Theme Amount of time you have played your instrument: Two hours |
Some one else already posted a link to what a Euphonium was and your definition wasn't quite right. The Baritone and Euphonium are actually slightly different. The Euphonium tapers over its entire length and has 3 to 4 valves were the baritone tapers to a fixed diameter, IE. If you unroll a Euphoinum it looks like a cone while a baritone looks like a cone with a long tube stuck to one end. This simple difference means that the Euphoinum has a deeper richer sound and a slightly larger range than the Baritone. Also, I never had to use a pillow when I played. My band teacher made me do a research paper on my insturment. So you get negative points for missing the link and getting the wrong answer.

Instrument (vocals and songwriter are ok too): Percussion
Band your in (type of band too):Symophonic Band adn Marching band greatest achevment(sp):LEaring how to play mallets do you like the idea of a Nuklear power forum band:yea Favorite peice of music:Fate of the Gods and At Dawn They Slept Amount of time you have played your instrument: 2 years GO DRUMMERS :D :p |

sorry for the confustion but I ment favorite played peice
and my band has a euphonium it is a tener not a bass so it does goes medium high and can read treble or bass clef (so trumpets can switch eazier) |
No kidding, eh!? A good friend of mine plays the euphonium yet every uninformed person who sees him play says "Play something out of your baritone" or "Mini Tuba". It pisses him right off. But at my school, people aren't to intelligent anyways. I play the Trumpet and they say they're gonna sabotage my Tuba. Dumbasses.
|
speaking of that how bout the people who say drumming so eazy
"uh..ya I can play drums 1.....2......3......4" dumbasses oh and tuba is the latin word for trumpet |

I have! Did it a few minutes ago.. Other than doing music on the comp, I used to take guitar lessons at school... that was in, like, Grade 4 though, and I never liked the guitar too much, strings were too fiddly  The keyboard though... I've always wanted to be able to play a rhodes piano, they're cool  |
Instrument (vocals and songwriter are ok too):
Wow, I'm the second Euphonist here *is mildly surprised* Do I get points for defining my own instrument? I could c&p the 4 page article from I think it's David Werden's website. I'm taking a Bachelor of Music, majoring in Secondary Ed, so I suppose you could list me as being a conductor (stick waving monkey) as well. Band your in (type of band too): I currently play in the University of Calgary Wind Ensemble (I'm section leader and serve on the ensemble executive), one of the premier wind ensembles in North America under the direction of Dr. Glenn D. Price. We currently have 7 recordings available on 3 different commercial labels. Other bands I've played in are the University of Calgary Symphonic Band under the Direction of Dr. Mark Hopkins, the Alberta Wind Symphony under the direction of Dr. Robert W. Rumbelow, and the St. Mary's High School Wind Ensemble under the direction of Mr. Don Barrette. I take private lessons from Micheal Eastep, principal tubist of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and have played in masterclass for Pat Sheridan. greatest achevment(sp): Getting into the UCWE ;) do you like the idea of a Nuklear power forum band: Sure, just pay my travel and lodging expenses. Favorite peice of music: Mars. Amount of time you have played your instrument: 6 years now. |
Edit: In other news, I like to jump guns.
|
Instrument (vocals and songwriter are ok too): I could do background vocals, or second voice(I don't know if it's called like that.). I haven't got the clearest voice of them all though.
Band you're in (type of band too): No band, none of my classmates feel like it. greatest achievement: Not available do you like the idea of a Nuklear power forum band: Yeah, but there's that point again. When could we meet? Favorite peice of music: I like Suteki Da Ne(Rikki(sp?)/Nobuo Uematsu), Real Emotion(Nobuo Uematsu), To Zanarkand(guess?) and My band(D12 & Eminem.) Amount of time you have played your instrument: I don't know, 4/5 years, but I've never followed classes in the subject or stuff. |
