POS or CJ, Mesden is like Fifth only not amusing.

Loyal 12-02-2009 09:35 PM

Mesden is like some some of lovechild between Fifth and DFM. I can see nothing wrong with making her a mod.

Depends on your perspective, I guess.

Not a lot of people make me laugh the way she does.

Cloud Strife 12-02-2009 09:36 PM

Maybe I saw it differently, but I could've sworn that Shiney was the one who used 'delete the forums' as a threat, IE 'don't tempt him', and Kurosen mentioned it as a regret that he didn't do so when he was initially advised to make that choice. Or am I seeing that wrong?

shiney 12-02-2009 09:45 PM

I said don't tempt him literally -- don't tempt him! I don't want to see this place deleted. It seems it's cooled down a bit now.

Krylo, I still intend to more fully respond to you, but in short I like the idea of talking with each mod separately before taking any action against a mod/admin and will start doing that henceforth. This I promise.

Fifth - you have said your piece, and I have said mine. Let us hope this situation doesn't spill over any more times, because if we cannot be friends or even associates then we are simply admin and user and you will be treated accordingly.

Everyone else - thank you for calming down and I like the direction this thread has turned. Take care now, I am putting my kid to bed and then taking a bit of time to relax.

I laughed the time she called everyone tools then posted pictures of garden implements. Mostly because she seemed insane (her avatar helped).

And I'm in favor of insane leaders. I also vote Mesden.

Weren't we taking this to a new topic?

McTahr 12-02-2009 10:00 PM

Bada-boom.

Closing this I suppose.

Edit: Oh, and just so it's not taken the wrong way, if you still really, really feel the need to discuss this, I'm not opposed in any way to unlocking it and letting you get your jollies out here or just in another thread.

Edit edit: Re-opened by request. Blah blah nommies go in the linked thread, discussion about any of the decisions up to or including those currently on the table goes well, here.

Krylo 12-02-2009 10:04 PM

Dammit, man, I lost a post.

Anyway, as I was TRYING TO SAY:

Shiney: I said I would back off if you made that promise, so this is me officially backing off. The guns are put away... for now. Still looking forward to that full response, though. I think a full and open discussion on forum policy/rules/how to handle things like this (and trolls) in the future will be good for everyone.

Brian: I'd like to apologize for keeping you from your work all day. I know this forum is little more than an irritation for you, but as you may have noticed, it's become kind of, just a little bit, important to me over the last however many years of my life I've wasted here/at TWC. I also have some kind of complex about perceived injustices or something, I don't know. Anyway--no hard feelings from me if there's none from you. Deal?

I'd also like to say I mostly agree with what Fifth said in his last post there. Not quite every last word, but as you guys know my style of moderating was pretty close to his, so you can guess what words I agree with and which ones I don't.

Oh, and one other thing: Kerensky. I made a post like that once.

Then they made me discussion forum mod.

I'd watch my back if I were you.

A staffing overhaul might be in order just to freshen things up, but I think on the whole we've built way too nice a deal here to scrap it all and try to move it elsewhere.

I mean, honestly, times like this where you have to air out your dirty laundry just happens. Seeing as the community isn't going to implode from it outside of some sprite comic guy hitting a delete button, we stand only to gain from the experience as long as we're willing to, and moving everyone isn't going to resolve anything, either.

So perhaps what we should be doing is trying to get to the root of the problem instead of just grabbing the weedwhacker.

I agree with you entirely, but it's not about "starting over". It's just about detaching the forums from Brian's life, which I think would be a positive thing for Brian (and anyone who enjoys his work by extension). Also, starting the forums over without Brian's involvement would be better than him finally snapping one day and deleting the hell out of the forums anyway.

Funka Genocide 12-02-2009 10:55 PM

yeah but I've seen at least a few attempts to "spin off" of the NPF community and for the most part, people that start internet forum communities are terrible human beings that don't deserve what paltry sums of power such positions afford them.

for the most part.
