Something akin to that is also being discussed. Brian shouldn't have to step in and knock some heads around like a regular ruffian when he could be guffawing and blowing smoke in some rich people face as he is wont to do.

The one great thing right now is I can say whatever I want and not give a fuck whether anyone agrees with it, takes it seriously or reads it at all.

I was under the impression we never paid you any attention.

You literally hung on every word I said for the last two years and your attempt to pretend otherwise is embarassing and shameful.

I agree with you entirely, but it's not about "starting over". It's just about detaching the forums from Brian's life, which I think would be a positive thing for Brian (and anyone who enjoys his work by extension). Also, starting the forums over without Brian's involvement would be better than him finally snapping one day and deleting the hell out of the forums anyway.

The problem is that I've got a grand empire of shit here with a pretty extensive archive of my kickass awesomeness that would probably end up getting deleted once we moved elsewhere, so it is totally starting over for me.

Huh. Apparently a lot has happened since I last glanced over these forums. I have to admit, this thread was pretty aggrivating to read through, up until near the end here when actual communication started. Just keep it up everyone (mods and non-mods alike) and everything should start looking sunnier again.

If I may, I do have a couple of suggestions. Nothing sinister or backhanded, but a few things I do want to suggest, things that were on my mind before I left.

I notice sometimes when an infraction or a warning is handed out, the reasoning given can be a little vague. Not always, miond you, because sometimes it is quite blatently obvious. But, sometimes things could be clearer. Maybe a mod could write a more detailed PM about what exactly is wrong with the behavior when it is more ambiguous. I dunno, it sounds better in my head, but I think in this case more communication can be helpful as well.

Also, I'd like to echo some of the statements about more transparency from the mods. Not full Mod Forum disclosure that would likely cause more problems than it'd solve but.. perhaps things like a public log of warnings and bans, with links to the offending posts and the reason for the punishment given. Also, when a big change to the forum is being discussed, perhaps be more open about the behind the scenes discussion, and have a public thread for these changes that everyone can chime in on for your consideration.

I'd say more, but I think pretty much anything else I could say has already been said.

Holy shit! Fencer!

We need to fill the power vacuum quick! It's pulling back all the old members who've left! We need to cork it before Iyeru, Tydeus, and Joshelplex show up and make new accounts!

Or worse!

People are just stopping by to enjoy the spectacle.

"Hey, bro, Meister just fired Fifthfiend."
"Shit, dawg, I'm all over that hizzle."

People who leave the forums (on good terms) are only gone as long as nothing interesting is happening.

Mike McC 12-03-2009 02:21 AM

Some other people that barely post anymore just had to share the debacle with me.

So, you are at least half right.
