Just asking.

It is if you want it to be sweetcheeks ;)

Gotta say....not real excited about that one.

I can't speak for what Smarty meant to say but I can say, with full confidence, stop being creepy, Premonitions.

First off, sorry things are so stressful for you right now Brian. I'm sure that had a part in how you handled things here. Also, I pretty much agree with everything Lydia had to say about the parties involved.

But, please don't even joke about closing down NPF. I know I'm not exactly popular around here, but this really does feel like the group of people I always wanted in my life. I know that this area of your website can be a drain on your coffers and sanity, but please believe me (along with the others who chimed in), when we say we love it here. I think it's been really cool that you actually are willing to talk with us on a personal level and make time for your fans. But if it's between that or your well being, then just walk away and find someone else to keep our antics in check. I'm pretty sure we would understand.

Fifthfiend, even as I overreacted to slights (real or otherwise), I still always counted you as a solid moderator. I could always trust that you could back up anything you said and weren't just talking out of your ass.

Also, on the rule leniency for old posters vs new. Well... it's pretty situational. (Ex: Banning for a double post would seem kind of extreme unless it was a consistent problem.) Dog piling a new poster is never fun and we do have a report button. But, on the other hand, Meister obviously didn't consider Nightshine much of a problem, so he might have ignored it. On the flip side, Fifth overreacted with that extensive a ban. So in this case, yeah the posters should have known better. But would a mod please list Bell's previous infractions that led up to a 2 week ban? If nothing else, so we have an example to avoid.

I think it's still modus operandi to put something in the thread when infracting someone, for just that reason, TWG. That is to say, so people know what was done wrong.

I really don't have much trouble believing Bellsie had a few infracts for spamming or being kind of a jerk, I guess, though.

Well, at the time of banning, previous infractions weren't even brought into it.

Bells was temp banned for 2 weeks for "backseat modding" because he said this

Yeah, Archbio got the right idea so far...

That... isn't back seat modding. At least not what I would consider back seat modding. An example of that would be, "You better stop doing that or you are going to get banned". This was more along the lines of, "Your style of posting seems that of an attention seeker."

After having examined Nightshine's posts myself, I've drawn my own conclusions about what kind of person he is. Not a troll, but certainly not a very positive person either. And since I don't want to get modded myself, and I doubt anyone cares to hear my opinion on the matter, I'm dropping that particular subject now.

Krylo 12-03-2009 09:54 PM

Yeah, I know.

The previous infracts were brought up later.

I read the thread, man.

Jus' sayin'.

The fuck? I read the first few pages (sorry, not reading through 33 pages of this) so I don't really know what's happened other than Fifth isn't a mod/admin anymore. That's.... just the wrong decision. Sorry.

As far as I can see, Fifth did quite a bit around here both to make this a fun place to post, and to keep people in line. I can only really see "personality conflict" as a reason for this, and that's just not a good reason at all. Especially because whatever finally brought matters to a head, my money says he probably had a good point.

Whatever it is that you gain by taking him off the team, the forum suffers worse for the loss. That's the truth.

This is the only forum I really do anything but troll on. I like the moderation here as I always have, but I liked Fifth as a mod/admin largely because he has a really good sense for internet bullshit, and honestly, I found him less biased and better informed than most whenever things happened.

I guess at least I respect you guys coming out and being honest about it. Whatever your options were though, I really can't see how any of them were superior to this one.

33 pages later, the boards are completely okay and not caring about this.

I think you should read more thoroughly.
