Honestly I dunno, I never played it. But it's the favorite game of a girl I dated in middle school and she's pretty cool in a Kate Beatony kinda way so I'd say it's probably all right.

If you accept Secret of Mana, all of your sins can be forgiven.

I mean I'm not sayin' he's necessarily wrong about it or anything he's just mentioned not liking it a few times now without really saying why so I thought I would ask.

Are we going to be regularly calling people by their old usernames when trying to get their attention?

<3 SoM.

Just recently did a full playthrough on the WiiWare store version. Still just as fun.

He's explained it, I'm pretty sure, but I forget where.

Oh hey - Imma big fan of all the old SNES stuff, especially number 3; but I do know that a while back they released something for GBA or DS... Might've been this thing:

Sword of Mana was pretty good, it was a remake of what we got over here as The Final Fantasy Adventure for the original Game Boy.

Children of Mana sucked pretty bad though and so did the PS2 game Dawn of Mana...
Stay FAR far away.

Still wish we got #3 over here in America....

Who's this Neko Tera-san you speak of?

It's a slow game with a horribly slow weapon and magic growth system (the grind to even master one of them was overwhelming since they gave you ten different levels of mastery for each one of the dozens of arms you received*) with an uninteresting battle system. Having to wait for the meter to recharge or whatever to do damage is, I guess, a neat idea, but Action RPGs since then found better ways to deal with attack spamming (cooldown animations) that I've been spoiled to not like SoM's battle system at all.

The party members are comprised of some of the blandest individuals ever, too: I don't have a problem against silent heroes, but usually these silent heroes are accompanied by individuals whose stories and relationships to the main character or whatever flesh the latter out. The princess and the sprite do nothing of the sort for Muteman.

I will admit to never having beaten the game -I stopped around the Santa Claus quest, I believe. I do remember I hardly had any motivation to go on. The script was way too fragmented, with no real link between any of the episodes besides going around to get the summons or whatever. The pacing bored the fuck out of me.

*I'll admit this could be a plus for some people, however.
