Need help picking a comic

Next time I'm in Forbidden Planet I'm gonna grab a comic, but the thing is there's so many to choose from...
The two I'm leaning towards are Spiderman or X-Men, but apparently there are some kickass Superman ones as well, although I'm not a big fan of the Superman (hehe that rhymed), as well as all kinds of others, so it's all really confusing for my poor little brain.
So I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a comic, whether it be series or a specific comic in the series.

Well i personally would go for Spiderman or The Punisher.

Anything that has been touched in any way by Neil Gaimen should do nicely if you're looking for a good read. If you want superhero books, I'd dig through the back-issue bins and pick up a ton of old, cheap Spiderman, Justice League or X-Men mags.

Ok, thanks both of you. :D Should be going into town some time next week, I'll look for some then.

I recommend the Preacher series by Garth Ennis if you don't mind (or are into) excessive violence, religious allusions in great numbers and very oddball characters (such as the dude in my avatar pic, who survived a suicide attempt involving a shotgun). Imagine Dogma directed by Quentin Tarantino. At 9 volumes, it's fairly short (read: relatively cheap), too.

Here's some more info.

my choices would have to be wolverine or weapon-x,either one

Teen Titans!

or just grab one of the million goddamn X-Men books.

I also have a theory: you can't throw a stone without hitting either a Bendis book or some one saying how good bendis books are.

I do not care for his writing. Not at all.

Is THAT who that is? I thought it was Dr Evezan from Star Wars at first.

And again, thanks for those suggestions :D I'll keep them in mind.

My favorite writer at the moment is, in fact, Brian Michael Bendis, so I'd suggest Ultimate Spiderman or Daredevil. Exiles (not written by Bendis) is starting a new story arc, so this wouldn't be a bad time to start.

If you're going to buy comics though, you'd be best off buying trade paperbacks. Powers (Bendis), Alias (Bendis) and the Ultimates (not Bendis) don't have any new issues coming out soon (I swear I read Powers v2 was supposed to start in March? Whatever happened to that?) but you can catch up on them by picking up the TBP.

Or while you're at it, buy the Watchmen, assuming you haven't already.

Sin City, none above, but some at the sides
