Respect at last?

Is it possible that gaming is finally becoming acceptable in today's world? Console gaming has made great inroads, and I know thats what many of you play, but for those lucky PC and Mac gamers out there, you are still shunned. But today I was given great hope.

I was watching TV and a McDonald's commercial came on. What possesed me not to immediately switch it off is elusive, but I watched. While considering deafening myself so I wouldn't have to hear the damn McDonald's song again, I watched some guy get McDonalds, hurry to work and sit down on his computer. The screen is shown, and LO AND BEHOLD! The man is playng Warcraft III! Could this be the sign that we all are looking for? McDonald's caters to computer gamers? Is the geek-to-chic translation about to begin?

Watch carefully friends...our time is at hand.

I think that McDonalds is exactly the kind of crowd that we didn't want to lure.

I was hoping we'd catch Adam Sandler playing a video game. Or some role model like Brittney Spears or Paris Hilton.
Nobody wants to mimic the people who eat McDonalds crap.

If you diss McDonalds, you diss the McGriddle. And if you diss the McGriddle, it causes me to fume angrily at my computer and actually use the word "diss."

Gaming has become more socially respectable lately though, mostly because all the gamers have grown up. We're at the point where old people aren't known for listening to ragtime records, but for listening to Led Zeppilin. We grew up with the games, so we take them with us into our social culture.

God Bless the McGriddle.

can I kill you all with my mcspear. no really you know video games are in when even the jocks play them

videogamerz2000 05-05-2004 05:14 PM

Yeah, but all they play are sports game. I'd rather hang myself by the goat balls and put a gun to my head than play a sports game. It's always the same. Yeah you can make an awesome pass or an amazing catch, but it's always programmed like that.

I don't know if you would really call that good... I mean, this is just more mcwhoring our favorite hobby! We get enough sponser shots in video games now, I don't want to start up my game and see "This game brought to you by Pepsi!" then have a damn cg commercial that I can't skip through! And don't think it won't, it's just another step in the bringing of Ads into your DREAMS! They'll take over! Soon my left arm will be brought to you by Mcdonalds, the right will be from burger king, they'll fight and kill me! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

*gaspgaspgasp* Seriously though, I don't think video games in ads are the best ideas. That just means that we're not special anymore. We're mainstream. *shudder*
