Help for a DM.
OK, i am a beginning DM. I am trying to make up some games and have made a few, but i dont know how detailed or long they need to be. Please describe some games so that i can get an idea of what i need to make.
Note: I have and have read the Players handbook, DM guide, and Monster manual. |
one word for you...........UNDERDARK!!!!!!!!!!!
there should be a horrible drow matron (or other villain) with an evil plot, and the PC's (Player Characters) need to stop her. It should have challenges, traps, evil minions, and an epic battle at the end as they face the wicked villainess!!!! |
UNDERDARK????? I dont get it. anything more helpfull?
|
Magic, the Underdark is typically underground. It is the place where races such as Drow Elves live. Drows are pretty much dark-skinned goth elves who are a bit on the evil side. (I think that sums it up well enough. :P ) I like the idea of a quest based on the idea of the Underdark, but it wouldn't start there since your human, dwarf, etc. characters would not just be born or appear there. :P

they enjoy life too much to be goths, IMO. Also, they don't write depressing poetry, and they are FAR more active than goths. and they are usually FAR FAR on the evil side........just think about some of the things the Priestesses of Lolth do........*shudders*
and I suggested an Underdark quest because I always wanted to be in one:p |
Dragonsbane, I was saying they were gothic as a figure of speech and a "bit" was a thing I like to call sarcasm... Don't take it to the heart, buddy, he got the picture before you came in.
|
I know, but Magic probably didn't.........
heh....*has a sudden, amusing picture in his mind of Magic going to Menzoberranzan, being tortured and flayed to death......his last words being "but Jeth on the Nuklearpower forums said you were only a BIT evil".....* *snickers* |
I'd suggest you take a look at these . Some/most of them are crap, but they give you an idea of what a proper adventure should be like. If you want to drop $10 or so, buy The Sunless Citadel or The Forge of Fury, two excellent low level dungeon delves. I'd suggest you run a couple of these so you get the hang of running adventures before you start making your own. Lastly, don't forget the number one rule of running a good game: everyone is there to have fun. You aren't supposed to go around power-tripping; make sure things are difficult enough that PC's have to be cautious, but never throw them into an encounter intent on killing PC's. If everyone had a great time, then you did your job.

Well a low level adventure is pretty easy. Once the players have thier charecters made tell them that they start out in the forest having left town earlier that day after loading up on supplies (don't keep track of weight or foodstuff it's no fun when starting out)
During the night a few goblins attack and steal some of thier stuff. The party should follow the goblins to a cave. It has maybe 30 goblins but no more than 5 in one encounter. Finally they get to the last room (having found 4healing potions and a couple MW weapons on the way) The leader is a 2nd level Goblin Druid he has 3 normal goblins with him and a wolf companion. These should be fairly simple battles just so you guys get the hang of the battle system. A couple adventures like that an you'll have the feeling of the battle and movment rules. Then you can worry about a story. If you need any more help just PM me I'll help how I can. Good luck Mail Chicken. |
There should be some guys, and they should be bad. and your guys should want to kill them. after doing so, your guys should be rewarded with some money, or equipment, or experience.
