La Pucelle: Tactics
As some of you may know, La Pucelle is a strategy/RPG game that is sorta like a prequel (at least in spirit) to Disgaea. As I am a big fan of Disgaea, I am planning on buying this game soon (promised myself I wouldn't buy any more games till finals are over). So has anyone here bought it yet? I'm really interested to hear any first reactions to it.

So it's already out? I've been waiting for this game too, I just hope the battle system hasn't been changed that much.
|
It just came out on the 5th I believe. It was released in Japan before Disgaea (if you didn't know), so I'm a little afraid that the battle system will actually be less polished than that of Disgaea, but I have very little to go on as far as articles I've read. I've been looking on sites like Gamespy for a review, but I haven't seen anything yet.

A prequel you say? That would explain some things. It's similar to Disgaea, however the battle system is slightly different. If you get into a fight with the enemy, whoever else is in a fight with that enemy will join in. Also whoever is standing around your main character will also join in. This even works with ranged weapons. When you get into a fight, you and the enemy are taken to a 2-D stage and fight it out like any ol' RPG. All who participate get experience so I won't have to give a sword to my healer and hope she hits with every body else.

I got Disgaea but I didn't play it too much because I got another game. I've been waiting to get this game so I can play it first (in order kinda).
|
I've heard only good about both. Disgaea's been high on my list for a long time, and I have a friend who's flipping out about how much he loves La Pucelle now that he has his hands on it. So I'll get them both eventually.

Well, so far the word on the street for La Pucelle sounds promising.
KefkaTaran, Disgaea is a really good game for certain people, while certain groups of players might find it extremely boring, it all depends on your tastes. If you really look for story in your games, Disgaea is good (but not great) as it has a really hilarious story that spoofs on several different themes. On the other hand, to get the most out of Disgaea, you have to be either have a little Power Gamer at heart or love to micromanage (probably a little of both), since the story only lasts for 30-40 hours. So if you have some of these traits I would wholeheartedly recommend it. One warning: Fear the prinny baal. |
I have La Pucelle.
Unfortunately, I can't play it yet, since I don't have a PS2 yet. My parents agreed to get me a PS2 for my birthday (which was last week), but they would only let me have it after finals... :( |
Am I the only one that finds the title amusing? "The Virgin" as in "Joan of Arc"? When I first saw the title, I thought it would be a naughty, adult game. :p
I haven't played Disgaea (it's so hard to find), but i played Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure. It's just as cute as La Pucelle looks to be. There should be laws against over cuteness. :\ |
Has Disgaea gotten that rare? I picked mine up for $30 used in January.
Is that what La Pucelle translates to? Interesting, and somewhat amusing. The only game title I've ever been able to interpret is Xenosaga since they are in german. *spoiler* ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- From playing Disgaea, Prier (main character in La Pucelle) makes an appearance as a hidden boss in Disgaea, and she is rather feral, so my guess is that she isn't as cute as she appears to be. *end spoiler* -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
