Silent Hill, "You Are Always On My Mind..."

Where the title's from.

Also, here's the game trailer. Just because.

So I saw it for the PSP in EB a few days ago, and I have to wonder - is it good? I sold my Wii years ago and I'm wondering if I pick up SHSM for the PSP I might miss out on... using my hands to... something something motion sensing. I don't know.

All I want to know is this; is SHSM PSP a watered down Wii version, or is it at least worth a look?

Every fiber of my being hates this game. I was on the test team. I laughed when they said they included a psyche profile to make the game 'scarier' for you.

God damn it they did a good job on that part. I hate the gameplay mechanics, I hate more then half the puzzles, but what I hate most is how fucked up it made me. I was also playing this game in the middle of winter so walking home had some negative effects on my already jumpy personality.

Oh also fuck this game.

So it's scary? I was unimpressed with the movie, Origins and Homecoming, so I don't think I'll be too interested. I'm mostly going off of this review,

I do like puzzles, I do like a few of the game play issues, like the claustrophobic camera and the combat system. Yhatzee said it better than I could when he said "But [the combat's supposed to suck.] The protagonists are respectively a writer, a clerk, a girl and a twat." But I hear there's absolutely no weapons in SM?

Niknik, I'm confused. Are you saying that the psych profile is about as real as BLAST PROCESSING, or are you saying that it's really there and freaked you out? I'm not buying the game either way; I'm just curious.

It's hardly my best (which by itself ain't much)

But yeah... the game is not really scary. The game is uncomfortable.

Imagine a room,t here is just you and another guy in the room. You don't know the other guy, it's dark in the room and he is in the corner, in silence, looking at you.

That's uncomfortable. That's Silent Hill Shattered memories.

'M still not convinced. The last three Silent Hill efforts were terrible and SH4 was sub-par. It's been a declining slope as time has gone on, and Climax has made it that way.

Wait for it.

Waiiiit for it.

That sounds fucking terrifying.

The game is awful. The psych profiling the game talks up changes the appearance of a single character from the beginning, what color a house is, and some lines of the dialogue, but NOTHING ELSE. There's a part where the game let me give this girl with a headache the wrong colored pills, and she died, which sounds awesome until you do your second playthrough, give her the right colored pills, and she dies anyway. The story is the best of the New Silent Hills, but that's not saying much. The gameplay is awful waggle that has replaced all the puzzles. You steer by aiming the Wiimote at the screen, and you have to knock enemies off you by thrusting the Wiimote in the direction of the enemy. I WONDER HOW THESE TWO THINGS COULD COME TOGETHER TO FUCK YOU OVER WHEN BEING CHASED. The non-Wii versions might be less terrible, but they'll still be terrible.

Seil. Don't play it. Ever. If anyone recommends you play it, punch them in the balls.

EDIT: Also there is a single enemy design for all the enemies across the entire game and it doesn't change.

Set that one up.
