Nerf and Nerf warfare
 

A few months ago I decided on a whim I was going to spend my last saturday as a legal child doing the most immature things I could think of. To kick things off, I am having a NERF war in the snow at a local park. Picked up my gun and darts today, and was actually surprised at what some of this stuff could do, The sights on the gun actually worked, The cheap pistol I got as a backup has a good enough rate of fire, and the sword is heavy enough that you know your hit, but not enough to cause damage

so yeah, discuss the awesome that is NERF here.

They sure can fly down a hallway indoors, but they are terrible outside.
 

I live in a dorm with three other guys, one of whom is majoring in Shakespearean acting or somesuch; he's also trained in many types of older sword styles, and is often asked by friends and professors to help correograph fight sequences for their plays. One day he asks me to help him run through the steps and make sure everything is working out right, so we get out his Nerf swords and begin practicing the movements, grabs, etc.

"THEN THE TIME TRAVELING SPACE COWBOY SHOWED UP AND SHOT THEM ALL!" One of our other roommates stormed the room with his Nerf minigun-esque weapon and mowed us down while making that proclamation.

This happens at least once a week. In the event that it doesn't, a gunfight erupts out in our tiny dorm room anyway.

I'm torn between rather or not to buy the swords.

To add some extra zip to your Nerf weaponry, take the thing apart using disassembly instructions that you can find anywhere. Then lubricate the inside of the tube that houses the plunger that you pull back to fire. I used to use WD40, but that loses it's effects after a while. Your best bet is a coating of Vaseline. It gives your shots a noticeable accuracy and speed boost.

Also, if you have the money or technical knowhow, you can replace the spring itself with a higher tensioned spring of the same dimensions. Just make sure you don't go overboard. A spring that's too strong can snap the gun in two.

My loadout for tomorrow is a recon CS-6, with 2 extra clips, a Nerf Maverik on the belt, and one of the shortswords on my back. I feel like the Scout

I still lack a side-arm, but I guess I could take apart the sniper.
 

I have one of these, as well. Man, they are such rubbish. The "laser sight" is kind of neat, I guess, but cocking it from the top is terrible design.

I got the longshot, fully intending to open it up and modify it. Same with my maverick. Never did, though.

Also, why is it so damn hard to take screw's out of plastic? Shit's annoying.
