Crack is Cheaper

Yes, I'm trying, again, to make a thread.

Okay, everyone. Which one costs more money: Anime, Tabletop RPGs, or kids? Tabletop RPG books are $30 a piece, and anime DVDs are $30 a piece. BESM falls under Tabletop RPG, even though it's anime-based.

I personally vote anime is more expensive because not only are the DVDs $30 a piece, but these's also the limited edition box sets that're $35~$65(depending on the box and its goodies). Then there's all the manga, which ranges from $10 to $15 a piece. And the OSTs are usually $15 a piece. Then you've got all the little toys and other mechandise for anime.

The only way a kid is more expensive than anime is if you're buying the kid anime stuff.

Well, let's see... you have one kid. We'll say s/he's young, because clothes and food cost less (needing less fabric and less food) About 24 diapers come in a box. Let's say your kid only goes to the bathroom three times per day, just to be nice. Diapers cost about 10-15 bucks per box. One box lasts 8 days. There's approximately 30 days in a month. That's about 4 boxes per month. That's $40 to $60 JUST on diapers for one month. Now let's figure it costs about 10-20 dollars for a box of baby food, which has about 12 of those little things of food. That's lasting you about a month, because a kid doesn't eat a full one in a sitting. That's 50-80 dollars per month. Now, you're going to need clothes for this kid, that's about 120 dollars per year (give or take, but 120 makes the math easy). That's an extra 12 bucks per month, bringing it to 62-92 dollars per month. Now let's figure in water. A water bill for an average four family home is about 250. One quarter of that is about 75. So about 75 dollars per person. That's 138-168 dollars per month for a kid now. Seeming as this is a young child, the toys comes to maybe 10 extra dollars... 148-178 dollars per month.

As the child gets older you get to drop the diapers, but everything else on that list increases quite a bit, and I didn't include things like strollers, hair cuts, etc. etc.

AND you can double that figure if you have two kids... triple it for three, etc. etc.

Kids cost more.

Oh, you're one of those people who would actually care for his kid? Psh, I'd tell the kid to go to hell.

Besides I easily blow $300 on anime per month. $500 if it's December or my birthmonth.

[Edit]
Anime's a life-time commitment. Kids last only eighteen years. Besides, if you don't have kids, then you don't have to worry about spending money on them. Just like a girlfriend.[/Edit]

Kids are really a lot more expensive, whichever way you look at it. I mean, what if you don't take care oif the kid? Then the government may take it away.

If the government takes the kid away, then it's the same as if you were disallowed to buy anime (For the anime vote)
Becasue kids are more expensive (Exponentially as time goes on), they're more expensive than anime. Becasue, ya know, the rules disallow you to mistreat the kid.

However, if you refer to a child who is yet unborn, than both anime and tabletop RPGs are basically less expensive. Also, children who are no longer dependant can be very inexpensive.
But you'll have spent more money on a kid by age 18 than you ever will on anime.

Edit: I refuse to accept how stupid it is to respond to this post.

That'd be the equivalent of having four or five kids. You're a hardcore otaku...

One kid would be someone who buys an anime movie once a month or once a couple months, just casual use...

Anime = Free (Kazaa)

Tabletop RPG Rule Books = Free (Kazaa)

Kids = Costly (No Kiddy Kazaa)

Crap, I didn't see that! You're crazy about anime. But even still, you'll be doing the same for a chump kid on car insurance the moment he turns 16. That and food and... I dunno. You're talking, what, $6000.00 a year? I think a kid is still more expensive than that. It seems like one would be...

If you can afford $6000 a year to buy anime, than your finances would probably be reconfigured to put more cash into a kid than your anime by circumstance. But I could be wrong.

You're a special case.

Hell no. Kid wants to drive, he can get his own car insurance.

Okay, so I guess throwing "kids" into the poll off-set everything. I was expecting some kind of anime vs. tabletop RPGs debate. I honestly don't know why I threw kids in there.

IHateMakingNames 05-08-2004 11:31 PM

If it's just Anime vs. Tabletops, tabletops are more expensive. Anime can be free, but only part of tabletops can be free. You still need to buy the little pieces of stuff.

synkr0nized 05-08-2004 11:33 PM

I didn't mean to vote.
Now that I have, I'll claim my vote was made because I don't like tabletops and don't yet have kids.
