And yeah, Magikarp evolves at level 20. That's why it can be such a gamebreaker early on.

Getting it to 20 can be annoying, though. It levels up slooooooooow.

And that's why I like the Walker. Darn fish can't fight for itself even with Tackle, takes more experience to level than 2nd stage evolutions, and gets half exp due to switching it out every fight. A few walks over the weekend though and I've got it up to 17 now. I suppose I'll have to do 19-20 'manually' though as it probably won't evolve in the Walker.

Think I'll do the same with an Abra later...

Oh, and there's nobody I know in a radius of 20 miles from me that would possibly own something like Pokemon, but a quick perusal through the manual says it can hijack my wireless router and actually trade and battle online. I'm shocked, in a good way!

So I heard that Gen V has the option to just fight random dudes online, without having to do the friendcode rigmarole beforehand, if you feel like just fighting, rather than against a specific person. Is that true?

Also: I wonder what the new Stadium equivalent will be like.

Using the Walker only gives levels. It totally skips on evolutions and abilities.

This is the first generation where I've been unsure which game to get. I was always a Red fan, Silver was awesome, Ruby was superior, and Diamond had Scyther. But now, I'm not sure. I mean yes, White has Jellybear, Golemech, and Wargle, but Black has Cottonmon, Savulture, and iirc, the Ridermon. I'm torn. I mean, Golmech can fly, but RIDERMON. It seems I'm gonna need to get my bro to start playing again...

The mech is exclusive to White? Guess I'll be getting White. Sucks that serebii had to pull it's images.

PLDH still have them. Much better quality as well.

Here, have some sprites.

Thanks, you're right those are much better. And I thought you were referring to #622 and #623 when you said golemech. I can't find anything saying those 2 are exclusive to White, so I guess you weren't.

Well after looking at that sprite list I guess I'm good to buy this game as there are enough pokemon that I like the looks of to be worth suffering through the rest.

My lineup's gunna have so many holes in it though....

Grass -> Tsutarja Line (Starter)
Ground/Dark -> Meguroco Line
Water -> Puratoga Line
Electric/Flying -> Emonga....maybe?
Electric -> Shibishirasu Line
Figthing -> Kojofuu/Kojondo (Are these opposing or an evolution?)
Fire -> Kuitaran

So yeah, I've found enough pokemon to somewhat flesh out a team of monsters that I won't be embarassed to have pop out of my pokeballs. I'm clearly getting too old for this game. I miss Gen 1 designs sooooooo much.

Looking at base stats, I'd guess evolution. The second ones stats are higher, they would be horrible opponents.

Main game can most likely be done with any team like the others so this will probably be mine:

Emboar <fire/fighting> (starter)
Deathkan <ghost> (he just looks awesome)
Shubarugo <steel/bug> (only one weakness and plenty of resistances)
Gorog <ghost/ground>
Kirikizan <steel/dark>
Abagohra <water/rock> (he shall be named Kiwi after the turtle in Shining Force 2)
