Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 were just announced. Coming out for the DS in June (In Japan, obviously.)

HEY GUYS YOU WERE WAITING FOR POKÉMON GRAY?

WELL WE GOT SOME INNOVATION FOR YOU

IT'S THE SPECIAL EDITION OF ONE GAME FOR THE PRICE OF TWO

THAT'S HOW INNOVATION WORKS, RIGHT?

And it looks like the legendaries just fuse with Kyurem. That's pretty lame.

Well, it explains Freeze Bolt and Cold Flare.

I do hope that the story is either very interesting or a direct sequel, and that it will be easy to transfer my guys from Black.

Those legendaries are the result of the designers having the following conversation:

"Well what else could we possibly turn into legendaries?"
"Wait, I know - how about we MERGE them!"
"So we won't have to make any more of them?"
"EXACTLY! People will think they're awesome!"
"Yeah! People like jet planes and dragons!"
"ALL OF THE DRAGONS!"
"RAAAAAAAAAAWWWRRRR!"
"ROOOOOOOOOARGH!"

...at least, that's how it went down in my head.

Well, it's a... new direction for Pokemon. It seems the games will be a great deal more improved then part 1.

The direction of going nowhere at all?

Unless you have some information we don't, this is a rather narrow and very particular definition of "new direction".

Whelp, looks like I now know when I will be diving into Gen 5, kinda. They just better have the battle frontier or else.

Honestly, I was kind of impressed with B/W. Sure it wasn't a huge departure from the formula, but it definitely had a lot going for it compared to the last two generations.

The more involved Gym Leaders, the inclusion of two starter rivals each with their own reasons for traveling, and a deeper and slightly darker, for a pokemon game of course, story with an interesting moral take on the world of pokemon. The visuals where nice, and I loved the animated Mons in the battles.

Of course, I did feel that the Mon selection in this generation was a bit more limited. So. Many. Lackluster. Pokemon.

Since we are talking about Pokemon B/W, I kinda want to put out there that N was totally right.

Assuming you frame the world of Pokemon in the values of real life instead of the "Friendship always wins!" attitude it has, which I can't help but do by the way, N comes off as a nice guy who wants to make the world a better place.

Because you know that if you gave 10 year olds animals that could breath fire and lightning the world wouldn't be as happy as the Poke-verse is.

I have said it before, and I will say it again. Pokemon is a super-powered cockfighting sim.

Takes on an even deeper meaning when you consider that Blaziken, a pokemon based on a chicken, is a FIGHTING type.

Further irony in how he's one of the strongest non-legendaries you can have.
